You're not going to answer my questions? Here they are again:

1. If some of the features you did consider when choosing your options were disabled a couple weeks after taking delivery of your vehicle, would you then consider joining a class action suit?

2. Would you be one of those unwashed masses just wanting a "pay out" then?
Why don't we delete this thread? Member attacking member is not cool.

How much time do you guys think is appropriate to give FCA to make an official statement on this matter before we consider going forward with a class action lawsuit?

Do you think one month is enough time? Three months? What do you guys think is reasonable?

I would like to see where people paid extra for ORPs.

This is what you paid extra for, ORPs is simply an app that was pulled why, no one is sure of. The Alpine upgrade alone is $1300, larger screen, navigation, etc.

There is no monetary value for an App being pulled that you didn’t pay a specific premium for.

I figured the cost of the ORP to be $1,495. Because I wouldn't have ordered that package were they not in there. The 7" screen was fine for me and I usually used my phone for GPS. The 7" also had Sat radio so no loss there. The only appreciable difference would be the alpine speakers....I'm glad I have it because it sounds great but I'm sure CarBoys can outfit a stock stereo system to sound just as good for $1200 or less (What Jeep was charging for the Alpine by itself). The apps I use for mountain climbing have Lat/Long & Altitude for directions to specific trailheads depending on the route you want to take. I was more looking forward to the engine cluster screen and that GPS data for off-roading. If I needed the inclinometer I could have put that on my Speedo display with the other info on the 8.4". At the end of the day it's disappointing, but I'm still glad I own the JL over my JK.

I'm enormously late to this party, so if this has been said, pardons.

FCA's advertising off road pages and then pulling the feature is legal fraudulent inducement.

That FCA may rectify this, when and how, or what caused this: irrelevant. The initiation of a class action can do nothing but good. It will incentivize FCA, to respond, and make them, other automakers, and manufacturers in general think twice about similar behavior in the future, reduce the cost per litigant of restitution, and free up the legal system to handle this as one case.

If FCA makes good on their promise the action is dropped. The lawyers are paid from the pool of monies FCA is required to pay to those falsely sold their bill of goods, or if FCA provides product that meets these claims to the litigants, the only monies FCA owes to the action are to pay the lawyers, whose fees are set by an impartial court.

I'm not some radical here, but to those who say "Love your country but don't trust your government," I say "love your Wrangler but don't trust FCA."

The notion of working with a faultless dealer, talking with FCA....you don't talk to people who break promises. You issue them ultimatums to make good.

"How long should we wait...?" Seriously? How long should you wait to call the Police after you see somebody taking your wallet? It's no different.

Should you talk with the thief, counsel them, feel sorry they had a rough childhood. Let them keep the wallet in the hope that they'll pass your good karma forward, or should you get the legal community involved?

Talking with them has all the effect of an unarmed Bobbie (a British Police officer) saying, "Stop! Or I'll say Stop! Again!" (not that US cops can carry out with the threat to those who flee via, "freeze or I'll shoot!," but they can legally say it. The Supreme Court has well established case law supporting the right of the Police to lie.)

I'm just saying...I like 99.9% of all public servants.

Finally, Jeep Cares is oxymoronic, like Jumbo Shrimp. I'm not saying Jeep doesn't care, I'm saying that Jeep's motto should be, as is their obligation to FCA shareholders, "Jeep makes money." And there is nothing wrong with that. They care about you, as a matter of executive's legal obligation to the shareholders they represent, only to the extent that caring supports public relations and profitability.

This is not a bad thing, it's not a good thing. It's just the way things work. Get any notion out of your head that FCA cares, except for the purposes of meeting customer need to further enhance the loftier goal of making money.

Edit: Jasmine and Julie of Jeep Cares, I'm sorry if this offends you. Do say hi to Uncle Jack, Aunt Jessica, James, Joshua, Jacob, and Jason, their spouses Jake, Jayden, Jamie, Julia, and John (no, I didn't lose count, Jason is a bisexual polygamist), and their horse Jasper!

Honestly if people are this upset and feel compensation and or a fix is due they need to contact a lawyer period. You present the information / data / proof you have and the lawyer will determine if he feels you have a case and or be able to tell you how long you should wait.

If the lawyer or multiple lawyers won't take the case, then you know you have no shot, and you are simply going to have to deal with it.

That really is all that can be done to be honest.

Would everyone be pissed if it was determined ORP where removed for no other reason than FCA's desire to provide an added amenity to increase sales for the 2019MY JL's? What if it was a contractual issue regarding licensing and the use of ORP?

At this point, we don't know why they were removed. There was obviously a reason, thus if FCA provided an explanation, it might go a long way to mitigate our frustration.

My JLUR is replacing a Volkswagen Passat TDI. I can tell you from experience that when a company is held responsible for decisions they have made, they can and will go to great effort to rectify the situation. VW provided a $500 gift card, a $500 parts/accessory voucher and offered to buy back cars at over $5,000 above resale value. VW was caught manipulating data regarding emissions.

FCA prominently marketed this feature as part of the 8.4 Infotaiment package with Uconnect. They did this to increase sales and interest in their product. We have been told by FCA countless times that the JL is the most tested vehicle in company history. If this really is the case, why did they remove ORP from the Uconnect system. If they determined the head unit or the software couldn't perform as expected, they should replace the systems in the 2018MY JLUR's to make it work. To me, having the ability to have my gauges up on a screen at one time is far more valuable than the crappy interface between Uconnect and apple carplay as well as most of the lame apps currently available.

I think FCA's stance at this point is that Jeeps sell themselves, so they can save money on refusing warranties, provide minimal customer support and service, increase price, and generally do whatever they want.

I don't enjoy buying a vehicle from a company with principles like that, having owned so many Toyotas and Hondas, but I guess I want a Wrangler that bad. I'm hoping mine never gives me a problem under warranty, and that I never have to contact my dealer or FCA rep. Sorry if that was a bit off topic.

I have bigger problems in life than to worry about a page on some screen in my Wrangler.

People think they have some kind of mob power on forums. I have seen the same characters in all types of forums over and over again.

The reason FCA yanked the feature is legally irrelevant. The fact that they may have initially offered this feature with intent of providing it is irrelevant.

The time to wait for them to possibly make an announcement on this is irrelevant.

Competent council will, if skilled in class actions, take on the case or refer it to in or out of firm specialists in class actions.

Taking legal fees from a client who should be part of a class action like here, where legal costs per person are minimized, may operate outside the professions cannons.

But is there legal consequences affecting a pool of people here: a class action...yep.

It doesn’t matter that much to you. I respect that. Others care about it more; feel short changed, taken advantage of.

Mob theory relates to people jumping on idea more for socialization than cause.

To the extent things here are the former you’re right. But I’d be pissed, which would put me in the latter category—not that I choose this feature, so I don’t fall into the class, and I hope have some perspective—although I am admittedly pissed at FCA for this.

So who wants to hazard a guess how big the pool of those affected is? A couple of hundred? Of those who will “opt out of that?

Legal fees to fight I’m guessing will cost tens of thousands easily to take on Corporate Lawyers..... oh let’s not forget the time it’s drug out over (years). Then there is the odds of winning a case. Statistically speaking, 50% of all Lawyers lose.

Your case, however legit is only as good as the Lawyer you retain. The VW one, which I was apart, was sponsored by the Government. Way deeper pockets.

Damn it! I paid $47,341 dollars for the ORP and $1 for the rest of the Jeep. I want reimbursed for the missing ORP!
It’s like my iPad, but with wheels! Only it’s 47x the price and the apps suck.

I suspect FCA is going to have a shitload of dealers pissed off with them over this as well.

Nobody wants reimbursement. They just want an update that restores the pages that the previous update disabled.
