For those of you that want the HomeLink Universal Transceiver to be functional even when the JL's ignition is off, there is a simple modification that you can do to make this possible!

Hint: For you guys that want a switched 12v power source for say your dash cam, radar detector, etc. this modification leaves you will a free, very easy access, desirable location, switched 12V power (yellow wire) connection point!

Running through a couple of "what if" scenarios on the Jeep site with respect to configuring vehicles, it appears that if you go with the JL Sport model (like I did), you don't get the garage remote control (HomeLink) system and don't even have a chance to add it onto the vehicle. You have to start out with the Sport S model and then you can add the "Convenience Group" for $195. Oh well... No big deal... I can design my own remote control if I need to...

Reviving this thread back from the dead for a follow-up question ( yes I tried to search):
How do you set the HomeLink button(s) to work on a community gate that uses a remote w/a set pin configuration?

The remote button for my community-gate...if you remove the cover from the back, it has 12-pins that have to be set in a specific configuration to work.

I was able to program my garage door to a HomeLink button successfully...but cannot get the community-gate to work.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
