This same EXACT electrical shit-show happened to me in my 2020 JLUR a few months ago.
Long-story-short: in MY situation, it was the "main Z Case Fuse".
Long-story: prior to that full on shit-show, it started off w/my ESS auto stop/start function that ceased suddenly. That problem was the...
Sorry, "soft-install" is basically when you don't do a permanent "hard-install". I'm not even sure that it's a real nomenclature. Basically the guy helping me troubleshoot plugged his brand new Midland into the cigarette lighter and had everything sitting on his seat as we tested it w/mine.
I...
Honestly, Starlink is/will be a huge game changer for active-duty military that constantly PCS to a new state every few years. Had this been available in my younger Airman years...I definitely would've signed up for it. I got stationed in rural places far out in the middle of nowhere...
Not only does AZ (and NV) have yearly monsoons…these shenanigans w/clowns getting swept away/stuck in flowing waters happens so much that there’s a “Stupid Motorist Law” on the books so they have to pay the costs of their rescue.
I have the same radio installed in my JLUR; a Yaesu FTM-400XDR (MARS modded). I paired it w/the "Comet CA-2x4SR NMO" antenna and it works great on 2m/70cm to include GMRS freqs.
Its height might be a little taller than you'd like but...if you (or anyone) is looking for antenna that works and is...
How often do folks actually use the red hooks as recovery points? I recently finished an offroad recovery course and was adamantly told to never use open hooks/points for recoveries due to the dangers of it slipping off the open end.
Honestly...I recommend you watch "NotARubicon: GMRS Basic 101". This guy does a great job of explaining complicated radio topics (GMRS specifically) and explaining it all in a non-pretentious, humorous manner that is easy to understand. Another good one is NotARubicon: Repeater Channel 101...
Midland's 50-watt, wide/narrow band, 5-series radio reviews are coming out.
The MXT500 has been officially released and available for purchase.
- MXT500 NotaRubicon review
- MXT500 Trail Traveler review
The MXT575 has not (yet) been released but some in-depth review(s) of it are out:

I believe we have one of these in Las Vegas!

It’s actually a great dealership and the showroom has a big parts section full of MOPAR, ARB, etc stuff.
This has to be the greatest, crotchety old-man thread/shit-post I’ve seen in a while. The title was very misleading. 10/10 would read through again for shenanigans.
Freaking incredible…bought this vehicle a little over a year ago and my passenger-side sun visor just falls right out. FCA quality at it’s finest.
How long (mileage) until the dealerships manage to weasel out of fixing it under warranty?
I didn't want to drill into my dashboard either and the double-sided tape that came w/the Midland holster was too weak. I tried some stronger double-sided tape from Home Depot but that eventually gave out as well.
Ultimately, the fix was 2 small pieces of hook/loop velcro that has held like a...
The thing that was the deciding factor for me in choosing GMRS over CB was that Jeep had officially announced they were replacing CB w/GMRS at official Jeep events, to include the Jamboree.
I have the Midland MXT275 paired w/a Midland 6db MXTA26 32" whip antenna. Reception has been great and...
Problem solved; met w/a local fellow Jeeper that had a brand-new (in the box) Midland MXT275. After he soft-installed his radio to his Jeep, we were able to communicate fine using my radio. It appears that the culprit was the handheld unit.
Thanks for all of the help.
Yes. I'm not using any PL/tones or anything...just the bare channels and I confirmed the frequency is the same on the handset as well as the vehicle unit via the manuals.
Receiving transmissions in the Jeep is great, I'm picking up repeaters all around Vegas, loud and clear. But when I try to...
Yes.
About that...there is a guy here in Vegas known as the local radio/SWR/tuning guru but I haven't taken my setup to him yet. I figured that even w/a crappy SWR reading or whatnot that the radio would still be able to transmit something to a handheld radio <15 ft away. In my case there's...
Hello fellow Jeep-folk,
I recently purchased (direct from Midland):
- MXT275 GMRS radio
- MXTA26 antenna
- MXT24 low-profile antenna cable
I carefully installed everything and long-story-short...I can receive very clear transmissions from long-distances and nearby, but I can't transmit. I also...
