Did some research. Yes, the blue wire is for the brake controller (purchased separately, of course). The brake controller will also have (and need connected) a positive and negative hooked to the battery and a red one that runs to the brake switch on the back of the brake pedal.

I've said this before on one of these hitch threads that I'm disappointed that there is no brake controller socket preinstalled for connecting it easy. However, if you have the hitch factory installed, you DO have one. We get penalized for not getting it on the front end, it seems.
I agree. For the amount of money they charge for the wire harness, they should supply the plug to wire in for the controller; GM does. The blue wire is long enough to go to the glove compartment, but that's it. I'm sure someone with have a plug to wire into the JL, if not already.

No, it is a solid medium blue wire.....
Thanks for checking. I’m attempting to identify a single blue/white wire that is located on the right side of the front passenger footwell. It is located in-line with the factory installed hitch wire harness. It’s in a different location then the Aux bundled wires.

Can you post a pic of the wire and the location?

Here is the wire. It looks green/white in the photo, though without flash and in day-lighting, it appears to be blue/white. It runs to the underside of the glove box.

It doesn't look like the brake controller wire from the harness. Its thick enough, but not the right color. Hmmmm...

I have the mopar hitch that is listed for the jk. I listed the part number earlier in this thread
@Craigb is this what you ordered? Part #: 68251844AB
https://www.cjponyparts.com/mopar-t...ic-bumper-jeep-wrangler-jl-2018/p/68251844AB/

Did you reuse the bolts that go through the metal plate on the bumper? Did you have to remove the metal plates? I am hoping that I can order this cheaper hitch, use the existing bolts without removing anything, and pick up two additional bolts from Lowe's to go through the other two holes. Hoping to confirm before ordering.

If I order the 7-way harness does it mount directly to this receiver, like it does from the factory? (I understand the lengthy install)

My harness arrived this week, hoping to get it installed this weekend. I’ll do my best to share what I can, although I get too into the work to remember to take a bunch of photos, so no guarantee.

@sawburner if you install that wiring harness from etrailer, snap a pic of the connector hookup in your tail light.... I would be curious if you need to run a power line all the way to the battery, my back cargo area has a 12 volt aux port in the rear driver's side wheel well.

I have a 12 volt port there too. The manual says the ports are 13 amps so that should be good for trailer lights. I plan on taking several pics and posting them here. It has not shipped yet, kind of slow.

After I get this thing installed, will I need to have a dealership activate it?

No. You're good to go after installed. Of course, be sure and check connections to ensure correct operation before towing

Got home today and there is a message on our answering machine that the wire harness is back ordered and they THINK it may ship in May. :(
