Is a 6 ton bottle jack completely adequate or would a 12 ton give any real benefit? The price difference is only $6 so that’s not a factor. The extensions cost more though. Thoughts?

I've got a question for all you bottle jackers out there....

Where and how are you storing the Jack? What bracket if any?

Pictures???

I use the 6 ton. When placed under the axle there’s enough length to raise enough to change tire. Unless you plan to use it for something else besides changing a tire .
I’ll use it for various work underneath my Jeep where I need to work on suspension off the ground. In some cases it’ll be easier to raise the frame high enough for jack stands to let the suspension to droop by using a bottle jack than using the super heavy floor jack that I have. That thing is a monster.

Buy a Unijack, its a combo of bottke and jack stand, it can lift really high and are very safe.
I was not aware of these before reading this thread. Thanks for bringing it up!

Side note: Does anyone have any experience using an exhaust bag type Jack with a Jeep?

I’ve always wanted an exhaust jack. Lighter and quicker...

I carry both if going off road. The bottle jack is great if you can safely get under the Jeep and the axle is far enough off the ground with the flat tire, etc. to use it. If the Jeep is the least bit unstable, carry a long piece of pipe to use as the pumping handle so you aren't underneath. The Hi-Lift is very versatile but you need to make sure in advance that you have safe jacking points where you won't just collapse the body/bumper and where the jack can't slip out of position. For both, carry a piece of plywood and some chunks of thick planks as stable bases. Also some 4x4 blocks as wheel chocks.
