Well, the TC neutral light came on and it sure “felt” like it was in. Checked fuses, relays, etc. Zip. Finally gave up and called my warranty company (Ally). They had a roll on here in 30 minutes and it’s at the local shop as we speak. Definitely weird. We tried the emergency release to place the trans in neutral and even That didn’t work😳. Once it comes home (next week) I’ll let y’all know what the cause was. I was just incredibly bless that it happened where and when it did. A few minutes and I’d have been on the highway. A few more and I’d have been on the slab😳.
I hear you. I was in the driveway when mine freaked out. Couldn't have been in a better spot.

Ok guys, I need to pick your brains. This morning heading out in the Jeep. Started like normal, got about 100 yards down the drive and it died (has 3/4 tank fuel). Put it in park to start. Cranked it Over. Engine turns over strongly, but got one little “hit” with no start. Tried this three times, with same result. Ok, I’ll put it in neutral and push it to the side of the drive. No luck, it will NOT come out of Park! Move the transfer case to “N” and tried to push-no luck, it’s like it’s in gear. I went ahead and too the truck to town but I don’t have any idea on the Jeep. What say you’ll. Auxiliary battery? Tree rats on the wiring? Fuse? I’d appreciate any positive advice. Thanks!
I thought I bricked my Wrangler about a month ago when I couldn't get it to start. It was in security mode, and I was trying to get it out of the driveway and I put it in neutral I put it in park I put it in reverse, it would not move. I looked up a video online and figured out how to put it into "push mode":

Keynote: I couldn't get it to stay neutral so I had to have help pushing it out of my driveway by my neighbors while I sat there and steered holding the orange cord the whole time. It was pretty shitty, thankfully I have some very helpful friendly neighbors.

When the Jeep's battery starts to go, it starts doing weird shit. If you ever start seeing it doing weird shit, it's probably the battery. When my battery died last summer with all that hot weather we had here in Texas, my Jeep died while driving through my community. I tinkered with it for a minute got it started up and got it back home into the driveway. I only knew it was the battery because I had the exact same thing happen with my Jeep Patriot years prior.

There's way too many electronics in these modern vehicles, and so many things could be wrong beyond just the battery. So if it's not the battery, f*** man you're in for some work! Best of luck, let us know if it was the battery! (It's always the battery)

I HATE modern, “high tech” vehicles, esp Jeeps. With a screwdriver and a couple wrenches you could rebuild a CJ. Today it’s ALL electronics. 30 years from now CJ’s will still be running long after the JL’s have bit the dust because some widget died and there is no replacement

I hear you...Only in a Jeep! ;)

When I watched mine getting towed away, I couldn't believe I traded in my bulletproof (and paid off) Honda Accord for the POS with 200 miles and 20k left to pay on it. It's been good ever since and each time I drive the Jeep, it's fun...Never felt that driving the Honda...

I’m very much a “if it aint broke don’t fix it” guy. My spiffy JL has had far more issues in 25 k miles than my last TJ had in 150k. Yes, it’s got power windows, more hp, better mileage and a better radio, BUT I didn’t buy a Jeep for those things. I bought it to reliably take me places I couldn’t easily get to. Frankly the JL is “ok”, but it is most definitely NOT the rugged, simple vehicle an old Scout, CJ or TJ was. I can honestly say that the two Scouts I had (bought new) and the two TJ’s I had (also bought new) NEVER once failed me In 400k+ combined miles. Not one time was I stranded by the vehicle. That is reliability. I maintained my vehicles and they took care of me. I believe my JL has more relays and fused systems than the four of them combined🙄

Was that resting voltage? If so, you'll want to observe the multimeter display when a starting event occurs. Static battery voltage can be acceptable, as your readings are, and then fall off a cliff when the engine is cranking. It's the latter value that matters.

After having your Jeep sit untouched and only the alarm light blinking what should your resting voltage be? I had put a new battery in my 392 and if it sits for a week I will get the instrument cluster warning saying "aux switches not available"
I have chosen as others have suggested to put a battery maintainer/Smart charger on it with a constant 5 amp charge.

My minimum standard for a 12V battery's resting voltage, in any application and absent any crutches like a battery tender, is 12.3 volts.

Thank you, I just checked and it was at 12.8 volts without using a maintainer. If I toggle through the info screen on the dash and look at the voltage reading it is always around 13.5-14.2 when running no matter if it was on the charger or not. So I do not pay much attention to that reading
I am glad that I have only one battery to worry about

OOOF that sucks. My father just had to repair the wiring on his tundra. Squirrel ate through the entire harness going to the ECU. Crazy ol bastard sat there and soldered and heat shrunk every single wire back together.
