Jeep Wrangler JL HELP - Removing main fuse????? 1000001587

All the YouTube videos I see, these dudes just pick it up effortlessly with their fingernails, I'm sure before they took that cut they sat there and pried away at it for freaking 2 hours.

In all the videos and pictures I've seen of the N-fuse rail, it shows a couple of slots for tabs in the back of it, has anyone taken this thing off and can give me some pointers because I'm not trying to pry mine off, but I can't seem to get it off to replace it.

Is there a secret code for taking this thing off?

Pull straight up
Yeah I watched that video, didn't do much for me. Like I said he probably spent 2 hours figuring out how to take it off before he effortlessly did it in that video.

Have you taken off yourself?

I'm trying to find someone who's actually done it themselves because that video is 100% not accurate to how hard it is to actually take it off.

I found a thread on here that tells me which part number is for the hundred and fuse and why, so at least I can order it but I'm still going to need to know how to take this thing off at some point in the future, preferably before Friday when I get the part and have to replace it.

Spitballing, but by the looks of the part, there must be some plastic that catches in these spots, allowing it to slide up and out...eh?

Buuuut, based on the videos I've seen, I wonder if the plate is frozen to the studs on yours?

Sorry nope I just remembered seeing that video and that he didn’t cut away. I see now it wasn’t helpful. But now you’ve got me curious enough that I might look at it tomorrow.

Honestly I'll probably end up pulling up the entire fuse box and maybe with a couple better angles I can figure out how to get it out.

I keep spare fuses and a replacement fuse array in the Jeep. Based on what you’re describing I should probably figure out how to replace it before I’m forced to do it somewhere less convenient than my garage.

There are no plastic tabs and yes, it lifts right out after removing the nuts and moving the wires out of the way.

It requires no pressure or force to remove it.

Any insight as to what's wrong with mine then, as per the video I posted above?

Total guess: maybe it's caught on the studs' threads? Try wiggling them individually to loosen everything up a bit.

That's what I was doing for the better part of an hour last night. I was even leveraging it with a screwdriver on the back of it, trying to keep those holes in the center. I could get them up a little bit, but only each individual tab at an angle, and in my case there's definitely something holding the back end, the end that goes in between the plastic of the fuse box and the plastic where it sits that is hanging up. 🤷‍♂️ :whew:

I'm almost kind of wondering if that n3 fuse didn't short and melt to the plastic? 😭
