Hey all, like the title states, I need help deciding which route I want to go with for steering upgrade. I have a 2025 rubicon x that will be going in for a MC 3.5" GC lift, rocksport black adjustable shocks, Apex chassis 2.5 ton steering kit with fox ats stabilizer and 37" toyo rt pros for tires, so at the same time id like to do some sort of steering assist to help while im aired down with lockers on and crawling through the rocks. the apex kit seems really appealing as far as ease of install and performance goes and seems like a really good bang for my buck with great reviews.

The psc kit has me all sorts of confused and scratching my head on what all exactly I would need to purchase.

Apex is also getting set to release a through shaft ram that could be used in conjunction with their boost kit which would be awesome.

any thoughts/opinions/suggestions for why I should go with a psc kit over the apex?

From what I understand it would say both.

Start with apex. If that alone is not enough then you can add psc steering box. The psc electric steering pump is basically the oem pump with a larger pressure blow off valve. Just like apex.

I would 100% recommend the PSC with the belt-driven pump.

I was a little concerned about the "on-road" performance because I have heard that some people don't like it.

My full kit was installed about six weeks ago, and not only is it perfect, as expected, off-road, but it is also great on the highway. Very point and shoot and not twitchy at all. The steering is lighter but not bothersome at all.

Another vote for the Apex valve/ram combo. I ran a ram alone for a while without the Apex valve and didnt get enough juice from the stock electric pump. I can not do a mechanical pump because of this dumb etorque thingy. Since I added the valve its much easier turning now

I think the Apex could be a great kit but too many questions remaining. One of my friends has been waiting for the delayed release of the Apex kit.

You’re probably going to like the R/T Pros. I got them a week and a half ago. Love them!

I'm not too convinced on the reliability of the steering boost. It's basically increase the pump pressure to 1900 psi. Not sure if that will get your steering box leaking in long term (mine is already leaking at 10K without any modification).

I've been using the Apex kit for two years now, initially with 37s and now with 40s. it is significantly better than stock, but you can still get into situations where it is not strong enough. And you can still have the steering overheat light come on, although less often. I have had no leaks with my Apex system.

I would recommend the full PSC system with belt driven pump.

any advice would be appreciated i have a 2022 392 with 37' tires and a 3.5 lift. i do not go off road. i have steer smarts setup and do not like the feel of the gearbox. i did adjust it some so most of the play is gone. i am thinking about the
2021-2024 Jeep JL 392 Rubicon XDR Cylinder Assist™ Steering Gear Box (Special Valving)
only. from what i researched its a tighter gearbox with dampening internal. i am hoping and thinking it may make my steering feel tighter and help with bump steer and feeling loose.
after replacing pretty much everything else i do believe its the gearbox just not sure what gearbox to purchase. this one is pricy compared to under $500 for a stock gearbox

I have a SG691R steering gear in my '23 Gladiator and a PSC Big Bore steering gear in my RAM and both are excellent. I replaced the stock gear in the Gladiator because it had too much play, making it annoying to drive on the highway. The PSC gear has no play, it is a night and day difference in driving pleasure. I am not using the hydro assist so the cost of the ports is a waste for me. It is a high price to pay but I've not had much luck with stock steering gears from Mopar and didn't feel like gambling on another one and then having to do it again properly.

I got pretty much the same Jeep /setup. The Apex booster kit helps, so is the sector shaft brace and track bar (I have Synergy). I also added a 2.5t steering from Doetsch and the steering is super tight. If you don't go offroad it's more than enough. I do offroad and I'm thinking of getting the Apex TSR now

My friend did get his apex installed, we took it out for an easy trail but of course, no issues. It's a bit too hot to go off into the interesting obstacles to find out. His installed did mention they liked the kit due to some hose designs, that it wouldn't be a failure point like they have seen on the PSC. No other details, just what I heard from him.

My guess with him was that the electronic pump will still overheat but the turning power would be there when it doesn't overheat. I have an aux fan for him but we are both too lazy to do the work in my hot Vegas garage. I run the PSC and have been dealing with what I think to be a cavitation sound but the shop mentioned no, and they even replaced the pump under warranty. Even with the 392 at highway speeds, you can hear it even with an aftermarket MF exhaust.
