I found this piece behind my glove box loose. I can't seem to find out where it goes. Any help is greatly appreciated.

that is the soft opener for the glove box. First thing that broke on my JL.... and I threw it away. it usually breaks when you change the in cabin air filter.

Geez, I don’t know what I’d do every morning without a dozen threads of misidentified parts that fell off a Jeep.

Yea…I’m pretty sure he’s just making a joke about how common the “what is this I found on the floor” threads are. Between soft top bolts, trash left by the factory, seat track cap ends, unexplained accessories, it’s pretty much every day.
