Hey all. I have been leaking coolant from my res so i put on a new hose clamp today when I noticed the top T joint of the res seems to be crumbling. Has anyone else seen this happen? Advice is needed

This is the 2nd post ive seen with issue at the T / clamp. Wonder if the new bottle is stronger and if it will not be the clear version we have now.

Are you the original owner? Do these come with that type of hose clamp? Wondering (if the vehicle was used) if a shoddy repair was attempted….

I don't think they come with a regular hose clamp. I saw another thread yesterday where someone had a leak and the advice given was to remove the factory spring clamp and use a proper hose clamp.

It's a Jeep thing. Part of the design for Jeep was to formulate plastics and rubbers that would maintain their integrity only for the life of the warranty period. Fortunately for FCA, the chemical and plastics industry has advanced to the point this is now possible.

LOL read the post again. I did that to stop a leak.

I don’t think it’s shoddy :(

If that tank is pressurized, I'd say replacement is indicated, sooner rather than later.

I wasn't able to find any good photos - is this AB part clear/see-through, as opposed to the opaque black one that came on my Sahara?

For ~$40, that alone would be worth it.

Rgr. Since I didn’t know if you were the original owner, I speculated that the hose fitting was epoxied back in place…. It looks shoddy, but may just be the problem you’re describing.
