It might be the smaller windshield view in the Wrangler that is giving her the claustrophobic feeling. But I believe the JL windshield is bigger than the JK. Rent it again, but take the ENTIRE top off if it is a hard top or put the soft top back. Then take the doors off for another test drive. Claustrophobic would be the last description of the experience at that point.

IMHO I would stay away from the 2.0 turbo unless you live in Aspen Co ...here are my thoughts why was it made? performance? No it was made to get more MPG and meet EPA standards to save FCA money in fines etc.....also it has 3 miles of cooling and heating lines underneath it 3 separate cooling systems recommended high octane fuel...spark plug replacement every 20 thousand miles it suggests in the manual. and its JUST TO NEW the 3.6 is in everything and proven and has been overhauled in 2017 for maximum performance and reliability I'm not hating on the 2.0 but its just my thoughts and reason I choose the 3.6

Also take disconnect the windshield and push it on the hood , and also take off the rear tailgate . With the top off , the doors off , and rear tailgate off , and windshield pushed down out of the way , THEN ask her if she is claustrophobic ?

. I've been looking into the 2.0 turbo lately and am leaning towards that, but waiting to see what the price and specs of the diesel look like.

Noise, higher, handles road differently, maybe seat was too close. Who knows. Need more seat time, a chance to drive etc. top down and doors off offers a different point of discomfort for some.

I’d say, do a test drive in the one you want. JL is different from JK. Drive easy, good radio station. Pop the freedom panels, when you do, put down the rear windows about 4 inches, makes for a smoother air flow.

Perhaps get a pair of JeeTops panels to bring in more natural light. If I don’t replace my hard top with a Sky one-touch, I plan to do the same.

I'm a bit baffled at someone feeling claustrophobic in the jeep, I certainly do not. The only vehicle I ever felt catastrophic in was a Corvette, and it was in the dealer and was convertible. Certainly NOT a vehicle for me. But to other's comments, perhaps the short windshield. However keep in mind that the wrangler will fit 6+ footers without issue, loads of head/body room.
