Hi everyone,
first of all, thank you for this thread — I’ve read all the pages. Since the discussion spans roughly from 2022 up to today, I just wanted to double-check in case anything has changed or a faster/cleaner solution has been found in the meantime.

Could someone be so kind to post a quick up-to-date summary of the OEM parts that are commonly used for the heated steering wheel + heated seats retrofit on a Wrangler JL?

From what I understand, I will need at least:

  • Heated steering wheel (OEM)
  • Center stack / HVAC control panel (climate control panel with the correct buttons)
  • Heated seat elements / pads (cushion + backrest, plus sensors if required)
  • Steering wheel clock spring compatible with heated wheel
  • Seat & steering wheel control module (CSWM / heated seat module), if applicable on JL
Wiring question: for a 2021 European-spec JL, can I use the same harness / wiring solution mentioned in the previous posts, or are there EU-specific differences (connectors, PDC/fuse positions, CAN wiring, etc.)?

Thanks again — I really appreciate any quick guidance.

:)
I looked at the wiring diagram’s posted here and there doesn’t appear to be any differences in the heated seat/wheel section. Your list of items needed looks good although the center stack is not required for the system to work as you can control them with the climate tab in the radio. The Infotainment wire harness seems to be a solid option.

The sheath is zip tied to the wires and it slides out the open side.

That was it. I was just being too easy. Thank you sir for your assistance. I connected the 2 wires from my comfort module to 3/4 in that harness adapter. Snapped right in but for some reason my steering heat light comes on for like a second and then back off. Seats still work. On the Infortainment.com harness the wires are orange and black. Looks like black is pin 3 and orange is pin 4 if I’m not mistaken. Any ideas?

Those look backwards but I don’t know if it will matter. I didn’t see where you changed the clockspring, assuming you did?

I did change the clock spring to a heated one. I noticed in your pictures that you are right about them being backwards. I swap them around and now I get a light for a few seconds and then it turns off. I really appreciate all your help.

Hi Everyone,
Great information in this thread. I decided to try this myself, but now needing some help.
I have a 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, assuming the process and parts should be essentially the same. I decided to go the Infotainment harness route. I've already installed the heating pads, harness, CSWM, and activated with JScan. I have not yet completed the steering wheel conversion. I planned to just control through Uconnect so haven't purchased the HVAC controls.

I've installed all of the above, activated through Jscan and when I go to the controls through Uconnect I have an icon for the heated steering wheel, but nothing for the seats and am somewhat stuck. I used CSWM part # 68530204AB which shows the the correct part # for Heated seats and steering wheel for my YMM. The one 'red' flag was that the connector from the harness for port 1 would not install. It had a slight shape difference to the port. I was able to shave off the hump on the connector to allow it to seat perfectly, but obviously I would think that the harness / module were not compatible. I have a trouble code of U1446-00 for the CSWM in Jscan. I've activated the following 6 items (as seen in the pictures) in JSCAN.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
Thanks

They say patience is a virtue. Forget everything I said. I did initially disconnect the battery so therefore Uconnect had to reset . I also initially didn’t add CSWM to active with JSCAN. After I did that and gave it some time the heated seats showed up and they work. So another successful case. Only interesting thing to add from my experience was the #1 connector from the infotainment harness needed a slight modification to plug into a 23 JTR CSWM module.

Thanks again for all the info!

May need some help. I went to tackle the heated steering wheel and am stuck. I used the infotainment harness for the heated seats and previously got those to work. I purchased a heated steering wheel, the heated clock spring, and the heated wheel harness. Everything was pretty much plug and play. I put the orange to pin 3 in the clock spring and is in pin 3 for the Comfort Control Module and black is pin 4. I tried the heated steering wheel and it displays in the radio and button lights up and stays on but never gets warm. I tired swapping the wires but got the same results. I though maybe I was not inserting them into the connector correctly (removed the yellow sheath) so then tried to test the connectivity from the wires that plug into the module all the way up through the clock spring and through the steering and wheel and seems like I should be getting power. Tested the ohms of the steering wheel and right around 1.5. Unsure if there are other tests I could perform. Any ideas?

I haven't ordered the harness or tried it yet. Good luck.

Hi, im having the same issue using the infotainment harness. Were you able to figure out the heated steering issue? I turn mine on and it turns off after a few seconds.

Unfortunately not yet, haven’t had a chance to dig back into it. Although I have a different symptom than you. My steering wheel heat light stays on. My best guess at the moment is my steering wheel (was supposedly new from Facebook marketplace). Yours sounds possibly like a connection? Are you sure you have the connectors in the right location? Tried swapping them?

Thanks for the response but it's working now. When I was testing yesterday my switches and airbag were not yet plugged in. After those items were plugged in the heated steering wheel is working now.

Guess all thats needed to clear codes that block it from working I guess

I'm short one heater pad for passenger seat cushion and apparently it's on a national backorder and not available anywhere but Canada and they won't ship to US. Been trying for months and people who say they have it stock really dont. Where did you purchase your seat cushion heater pads at?

Mcwallace05,

I was in a similar boat this weekend. The only way I could get pads was to call dealers around the country and ask to buy them remotely and pay stealership prices. About 140-150 a pad shipped.

Call your local dealer, they should be able to access the stateside records for who has some in stock and get you their parts department nunber to call. Took me 3 calls and 2 seperate dealers as most only have 1 in stock.
