Hello! I've been having an issue with my local dealer in regards to my heated steering wheel and I need some advice/ opinions on it. Some context: I have a '21 JLUR with the weather package that comes with a heated steering wheel. Since I've had the Jeep I always noticed that the steering wheel got real hot for 20 minutes and then essentially shut off. There would occasionally be parts of the wheel that were warmer than others but my laptop could produce more heat than what it drops down to. After a long back and forth with the dealer the ended up replacing the entire steering wheel for free after they continually didn't address the issue. With the new steering wheel given to me, it barely produces the same heat as before (again my laptop could do way better) and it isn't even noticable after the same interval of time.
After getting into contact with the manager of the service department, he stated that I should give the newly replaced part some time to see if it eventually functions properly and that the heated steering wheel on all wranglers are designed to drop to a lower temperature after short while.
So here's my inquiry:
1) Are the JL heated steering wheels designed to drop in temperature after a short amount of time?
2) Are the newer steering colums even weaker than the older iterations?
I've attached a specific manual on the part that the manager sent to me. I skimmed it but I didn't read anything specifically stating the drop in temperature after an amount of time or temperature point.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and respond.
TL;DR: Steering wheel not working properly. I want to know the way it should properly function so I know I'm not crazy.
