Ok, I was able to capture some more hard top wind noise. I've said from day one, that : this noise I experience is only in notable crosswinds, I've also stated that Maryland has been ridiculously windy for the past 2 months. The other on a short trip, I was driving/heading Southwest in a heavy west wind (sustained 20 with +30mphs gusts). After the video, I returned in the opposite direction NE (same highway) and no noise! It's always, driver side only, I move the phone around to try and figure out location (couldn't) and I'm trying to keep the speaker on the phone closest to the pillar. I do show my speed occasionally for informational purposes. Watch the whole video! it gets really good at about 1:30. Turn off "auto rotate" so you can landscape your phone to watch in wide-screen.

I sure hope Jeep gets this whole issue fixed before my 2dr hardtop arrives (whenever that may be).

Thats what I heard on both my test drives. There is no way I'm driving a Jeep that sounds like that. I've had soft tops that sounded better than that. I sure hope they can fix this for everyone that is having this issue.

You heard the "morse code" like sounds, right? That's what it sounds like to me, anyway. I wonder if anyone here could decipher the morse code.....?

I sure did and it was a really windy day with cross winds, but that happens a lot on this planet.

Ok, I've inspected the door and window seals closely. I see on the driver's door top left corner the rubber seal is slightly misshapen (see pics). It's like it's been pressing on the material inside the door jam (the pieces that Jeep adds to the front corner, at the factory) and that pressing has affected the door seal. Kinda hard to explain... Any way, whatever is causing the "morse code" noise has to be minor/easily fixable because;

#1 The passenger side does not have a problem and
#2 My Rubicon is tight as a drum as far as water leaks (numerous car washes and top removal) and not a Drop!
So, I'll tape this corner off and test it the next time the wind blows (now the Maryland wind will litterarly vanish!) with my luck....

I had similar issues with my JK (the misshapen door seal). Had it replaced and Ill be damn if the replacement wasn't pretty much the same (it was the front of the door seal against the A pillar (it left a gap about 5" right above the rear view mirror). Solved by getting some black rubber weatherstrip from the hardware store (approx 1/4" DIA D section profile). Jam it in the spot where its misshapen and it fills the gap and allows it to push against the pillar and seal correctly. After a few weeks I actually didn't need it anymore as the OEM seal was now permanently folded over a bit in the right direction - but regardless since I bought black weatherstripping it wasn't really visible.

Before I did this I had noticeable wind noise near the windshield (not the morse code like sound on the JL).

sad to have to do things like this on a modern car that costs over 40k, but until they stop selling every copy they make. . . . .

It honestly sounds better when you have a window opened or any of the panels off then having everything enclosed. Had a mini trip to Indiana yesterday and idk how many times I had to repeat myself with this crosswind noise.

Every Jeep has wind noise, but this isn’t the normal ā€œwind noiseā€.... Dealer can’t figure it out either...see video.... @JeepCares
Mine does exactly the same noise if hit with a strong cross wind.

I am very sensitive to sound also. I can hear out radon fan in our attic one floor down yet no one else in our house can hear it.
I haven't noticed a problem with my JLSU, but will look. Wind noise is more than other vehicles but then again, a Jeep Wrangler is in a class by itself. The foam is a decent idea, and may work better if you fold the windshield down, apply the foam and bolt it back up. Just a thought.

From now on, in this thread, can we please refer to the noise as "the cross winds whistle" or "morse code beep" or something similar?! Those members chiming in about general "wind noise" need not apply here. The "whistle" or the "beep" are clearly a separate issue (one, that appears as though, Jeep is working on). The purposes of the videos in this thread were to show the beep or the whistle. Period. At least if we can document this particular problem in detail, the fix can come sooner vs later. Not to mention this issue could be wide spread and unnoticed by many owners. As Ive stated before, I only get the "beep" "whistle" in heavy winds, not for that, I would probably have no idea that I have an issue.

I’ve got an appointment on Tuesday for it. We’ll see what they say. I’ll try to see if I can narrow the noise. Comparing my Jeep seals to the dealer pictures listed earlier, everything seams to be properly fitted, but maybe a Jeep specialist can tell.

I love the JL, but the wind sounds when I’m driving as if I’m going 100mph but I’m actually doing 65. I’m wishing I would have just got a soft top now and then I wouldn’t even have a problem!
Hi Wfd1244,
We are glad you are working with your dealer on this. We would like to make sure that we reach out to your dealer to offer an additional layer of assistance. Please send us a private message with your VIN, current mileage and dealer. We hope to hear from you soon.
