Hard top rear window blow out!

Today while my wife was standing next to our two door JL Rubicon the rear window blew out breaking the struts and all. All the glass was outside the Jeep and on the spare, bumper and ground. So it blew from the inside out, the Jeep was parked the engine off and no apparent reason for it to do this. She was getting ready to wash it so she was next to it as it blew. She went to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty. Has this happed to anyone else/?

Wow, I’ve never witnessed this happening but I have heard about it.
Some people blame the heat, a rapid rise in the interior temperature and sudden cooling of the exterior.
Did she spray water on it as it blew out?

Was your 2 dr. JL packed up with stuff?
Were all windows closed?
Were the 2 exhausters blocked on the inside or outside?
Do you have a tail gate table installed?
Had it been sitting outside in the Sun, closed up for awhile?
Outside Temp. ?

Someone else on the forum had the same thing happen a month or two ago and posted about it. Sorry about your luck, glad they warrantied it.

She said she had the hose out and had started washing the hood but had not done anything near the back of the Jeep before it blew.

I do not have a table but I do have two small pouches mounted to the rear door plastic cover but they have been on there about a year. I live in a rural area so my rear end gets pretty dusty I have 6 miles of dirt road to get out to the pavement. They are not blocked though.

How did you get them to fix it under warranty? My back window on my hard top shattered in pieces. I’ve had the jeep for 9 months. My local jeep dealership said it’s not covered under warranty.
