Too bad the Racor prices have become unreasonable

No kidding. I've been watching them since November and I've seen it as low as $175.

Working up an idea for a DIY powered lift to be hopefully less than 130 with similar Racor functionality.

I just looked at the e-bay post for the one I bought this morning. The seller had 2 for sale he now raised the price for the last one from $270 to $555...

I was debating a DIY but I just don't have the time...Good thing I looked this morning.

Hopefully my order gets filled.

Here is my tentative plan for the hoist. It has some Harken hoister in it as well as the Racor lift. At the moment I have it as 2x4 construction (with a 2x6 for the lift mount), but may want to upgrade the platform to aluminum at some point.

Looks like the few people on Ebay and Amazon are asking way too much for these. Should have bought one in the past when I was thinking about it. Went to every link on Racor's site on where to buy and none of them had one. I chatted with a lady at one of the places and she said Racor told them they don't have anymore and to buy it off amazon.

Dang, $224 bucks. I paid $170 only a few months ago. Well, supply and demand.

But still worth it at that price.

It appears like the prices have come down to about what they were on ebay as well. Very strange. I was going to go with the racor but decided to build my own with an electric lift.

I was reading some reviews online this morning about it and I'm kinda reconsidering purchasing it. Apparently they changed how they made them and skimped on parts. Plastic pieces breaking and causing the hoist to drop. Maybe that is way Racor has decided to stop making them. Who knows.

Ok, finally got time to rework my hoist.

OnLY thing I used from the Lange was the steel cable.

One cable to ceiling. Power drill to raise and lower.
