Returned 2 sets (four stands) of the 6-ton jack stands this morning. About $84 in store credit. Manassas VA location - crew there was great like always, couldn't have been easier / more pleasant.

Please post detailed close-up pics if you do. US Jack has a history of questionable welds, at least at times

Did they not have another jack stand that you could swap them for?

For those who are truly so against foreign manufacturing, have a local fab shop make some.

I actually had a friend in Denver do this years ago, and they just used round pipe in that case....but you could just as easily use sq tube.

It's just 1) a base 2)an upright 3) a slider tube with a bunch of holes drilled. Then a basic pin and the saddle can be just about anything: angle, a round disc, channel, whatever

I bet ya all the people screaming for US made just kinda wander away like Towelie at this suggestion.....oh, I have to put an extra 10 minutes of work into getting what I say I want? Er, never mind.....

At least in my case it wasn’t presented as an option, and I don’t think it’s an option generally based on the press release.

Are they not selling any jack stands? I have 4 that are recalled and need replacements...would like to use the store credit to pay for them.

I already posted a potential solution in the beginning of the thread, 2500# ea on a ~4400 lb vehicle.....MORE than enough for ANY corner. Claims "assembled in USA with foreign and domestic components"....so there's some weasel words there as my Semantics prof used to say!

Putting my $ where my mouth is....underhoist stands I built 11 years ago. I did two with round discs and two with channel saddles. 2" oilfield pipe for the uprights (about $1.25/ft here in the gas patch). Acme threads and nuts for adjustment were sourced from MSC

Scale it down for a jackstand and the concept is the same...

And finally, Chinese built and US-modified I did these for lifted full-size rigs. Musta been around '02 and I had not had my first-ever welder very long.....most of the welds are questionable at best but I never died LOL....God watches over children and fools (and according to my fiancee I'm usually both)

I returned mine this morning, store manager seamed pissed that I was there to do it. When one of the cashiers saw me walking in with them they made the comment of ā€œhere we goā€œ. I guess they know a lot of work is coming there way with returns. I also tried to return a ratchet so he punished me on that by telling me I would have to bring in the entire 66 piece tool kit in instead of just switching it out. Before I left one of the salespeople told me that they never do that.
So just a quick update on my story I went to another store to change out the ratchet and took the whole case with me, they asked why did I do that all I needed was the ratchet. I said that’s fine but since I did just exchange it all. Store manager and staff here were all great.

I asked if they had any new stands in and he told me they had a normal delivery yesterday but no stands with it. He said they could come in a week or a month he’s really not sure and was very apologetic about it.

Did you have option of store credit or cash, or no option?
They told me store credit or gift card. Receipt shows return without receipt so I’m guessing that’s all they can do. Now if you actually have the receipt, then maybe you'd be able to get cash back......just a guess though.

For me though, it was store credit or gift card.

My local HF handled the recall situation with great customer service. I was in and out of the store in a few minutes returning my old and walking out with new higher priced replacement 6 ton jacks. No charge and just an exchange receipt.

I could have asked for a gift card instead but didn't.

1. I wouldn’t trust my own fab skills

2. I’d only slightly better trust a local shop that isn’t insured to manufacture a product like this. When you come to market with a product like this, your first stop is checking with your legal resources about liability and having a big insurance bill selling products like this. If they are confident in their product to carry that insurance, then a consumer would have more confidence to buy it. That’s one potential edge for China govt backed manufacturing, insulation from liability and direct lawsuits because they will not hold themselves to standards other countries do. https://www.owensmulherin.com/recent-cases/chinese-manufacture-everything-cannot-sue/

So for me that would mean I’d rather buy from a US or other manufacturer that are holding insurance and are liable to ensure a reliable product.

If you are anti chinese stuff these days (not judging, some are), please send the gift card to me and I will dispose of it properly at my nearest HF.
