I have the Alpine Premium Audio system in my 2022 Willys 2 door.

The only complaint is the sub-woofer mounted in the deck storage compartment. It gets covered up with sand and debris fall into the speaker.
Honestly, the first time I saw a photo of the Alpine subwoofer embedded in the cargo floor of the two-door Wrangler, I thought it was a well-executed Photoshop prank. Why would FCA place a speaker, of all things, in a position where it would necessarily collect every bit of grit possible, and/or be covered up by a duffel or grocery bag?

Nope. They made their choice and they went with it.

Well, good luck. :)

Another vote for the Premium Alpine option. I'm happy with the sound of mine. I agree the sub in the floor of the 2-door was an odd choice. Mine is covered by a rubber floor mat with cargo tubs on top of that, so I'm guessing I'm not getting the full bass effect... :)

I've got grit and sand in my subwoofer. I haven't tried to take the mesh cover off to vacuum it yet, but it looks more involved than removing a few screws. :(

The upgraded Alpine system was the main option I was looking for when I went looking for a more modern Jeep. Luckily I found an '18 Sport JL with it and it was the deciding factor for the purchase. I think it is a great system for the vehicle that it is in, a two door soft top. Does it compare to the Mark Levinson system in my GX460: no, but it holds its own.

As for cleaning the sub, that is one of the first things I did. It was a little bit of a pain to get it out but I did not remove the grate and used a can of compressed air to blow it out. Just make sure to plug the four wires back into their correct locations upon re-installing and you'll be fine.

The Premium Alpine system in my 24 JLUR is "good", better than not having it. I replaced the dash speakers with infinity 3022s.

Now, my wife's GV70 with the Lexicon system is on an entirely different scale. That system with the volume on 3 (out of 40) the music is as CLEAN & CLEAR as it is with the volume on 37. The clarity of that system impresses me every time we ride in it.

I’ve seen many posts on various forums of people complaining about the audio system in their JL, and I’m a bit confused cause I’m quite happy with mine

I bought my jl used so I’m not exactly sure what all upgrade packages it has, but it does have the big alpine sub in the back so I’m guessing it has the upgraded audio package.

By no means is it audiophile level quality, but I’m satisfied with its sound and loudness. Is there just a big difference between the base audio system or am I missing something

Maybe I just don’t expect much from car audio, but for reference I do have a very nice home audio system so I’m no stranger to good sound quality
I'm pretty happy with my Alpine audio system. I wish the subwoofer had a little more grunt in it (I use settings in my phone to give it a little more than what it would normally give but I'd still like a little more thump) but the system is absolutely fine and I'm more than happy with it.

I don't care what other radios in other cars sound like because they don't matter to me.

I don't know when mine's covered up I think it does better than when it's uncovered... Bass (not to be confused with Bass...lol) is kind of a strange thing like that.

I've had good luck with just using a shop vac through the screen. So far it has sucked out most of the grit and sand. Taking it apart does look to complicated. A finer cloth over the mesh might help filter most of the crap out.

Thanks! I’ll give that a try.

Totally agree. I'm an audiophile and yes, the upgraded package I wanted as an option. Not sure what the standard sounded like. I crank it up all the time and it sounds great.

My method is to use a shop-vac, holding it at one end of the speaker mesh, then- using short bursts- blow CANNED compressed air at the other side to "lift" the sand/grit off the speaker's surface up into the vacuum's airflow. This works really well, and one or two bursts usually does the trick.

NOTE- Speakers cones and domes are fragile. Don't point compressed air straight toward a speaker cone or dome! I also say "canned air" because if you use a shop compressor, you stand a greater chance of damaging your speaker, even if your dial the regulalator down to almost nothing. Canned air (aka "Electronics Duster") is relatively cheap and readily available, but use caution. Hold the can as upright as possible. Holding it upside down, or even at an angle nearing horizontal will spray a frosty liquid at your speaker! If you're uncomfortable with the canned air, there are rechargeable dusters on Amazon ($25-$60) that look like mini hairdryers. A guy I work with has one, and I think it would work well to do this job.

I'm the same way, as long as its not static-y or distorted, I don't expect an audiophile experience, the acoustics of the space are crap(any car, I don't care how much sound deadening they put in), and you always have external noise like wind, tires, and engine

Compared to the nice Bose system in the Grand Cherokee Limited that I had (with the sub in back), the current basic JL Sport system isn't as good, but decent enough. With all of the road noise, there's no way to enjoy a decent system.
