I have the basic 7” head unit in mine and I’m happy with it. I’m not 16 anymore and don’t need a booming system with subs and fancy mids or tweeters. Shit, most of the time I have the volume turned down all the way just to enjoy a peaceful ride.

I have the base system 7" screen. Can't hear it at 70mph with top and doors off, but i can see a nice map and for me that is a big upgrade from all my other jeeps.
I was going to add, I can see what song is playing with windows down, can't hear it, but I know what it is.

Stock radio is fine, upgraded is already pushing reasonable pricing with marginal improvement, I have both, and to make it better, spend $5,000. I have my good system with Klipsch and NAD at home.

I'm not an audiophile, so perhaps I'm easier to please than others...or at least I'm more honest about it.

That said, even I disliked the unignorably flat tone of the price-point factory speakers in my JLU. I replaced the dash-top speakers with well-regarded Infinity Reference speakers from Crutchfield, and I replaced the sound bar speakers with, of all things, the premium speaker option for a Dodge Dart.

Both pairs were plug-and-play, although the ears on the Infinitys required a bit of trimming with a Dremel sanding drum to allow proper seating in the speaker well.

The sound quality is now as nice as I'd want it. I remain careful to not expect too much from a vehicle that wasn't designed with acoustics in mind (thus my prior comment about being honest about one's perceptions) and one that also has the soft top lowered to the extent possible during warm weather.
I'm just curious, do think just replacing the sound bar speakers with the dodge dart speakers would make a difference?

They have to my ears.

Granted, I did play with the Fade function, and tweaked the EQ settings a bit, to find the sound I wanted for the music that I listen to.

That said, if you want to upgrade any of the speakers in your Jeep, I strongly recommend you begin by changing the dash-top speakers.

My husband has Harman Kardon in his BMW and I actually prefer the Alpine 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve seen many posts on various forums of people complaining about the audio system in their JL, and I’m a bit confused cause I’m quite happy with mine

I bought my jl used so I’m not exactly sure what all upgrade packages it has, but it does have the big alpine sub in the back so I’m guessing it has the upgraded audio package.

By no means is it audiophile level quality, but I’m satisfied with its sound and loudness. Is there just a big difference between the base audio system or am I missing something

Maybe I just don’t expect much from car audio, but for reference I do have a very nice home audio system so I’m no stranger to good sound quality
I’m with you. I have the same and it is fine for my use. I see no issues. But everyone is different

As most have mentioned, getting good sound out of anything with the wind and road noise that is ever-present when driving a Jeep is challenging. For Jeeps especially, power is key so you can get the most clarity from the speakers you choose.

I have the upgraded Alpine in mine, and was basically happy with it for the first 3 years, but last fall decided to upgrade all 6 of the speakers (except the floor-mounted sub) with Kicker CS, which I got as a kit from Trail Seven. The kit was a REALLY nice pre-assembled system. It came with the wiring harnesses and crossovers soldered to speakers, and Tesa-taped- LITERALLY Plug-N-Play! A bargain when they run a special! The sound is significantly better, especially running top and doors off. That being said, they are Kickers which are harsh compared to the more refined sound of the Infinty's and Polk's that I have run in previous cars, but those all had roofs, doors, and sound deadening!

I’m quite content with the sound system in my stock ‘18 Ruby. I bought a Jeep, not a living room.

I have the basic radio and it sounds fine to me. The u connect works flawlessly, better than any other vehicle phone audio system I’ve used. This includes the very nice system I had on an upgraded Audi sedan. I can’t complain, but then I have a hardtop. What do people expect from audio on a top down vehicle? Top down is listening to the sound of the wind.

Do you have a C7 by any chance? Honestly one of the worst car stereos I've ever heard! I just left the active exhaust open and the radio off and that 'fixed' it. Lol
I had a 1978 CJ7 (wish I still had it) This was my aftermarket audio mod. Have to work with what you got!

Comparing my ‘22 Gladiator to my ‘24 JL, what ever they did to the interior worked because volume wise I don’t have to turn my ‘24 up as loud while driving. But the stock alpine works great for me.

21 JLR with Alpine
A Wrangler is about the worst environment possible when thinking about "High Fidelity" sound. I'm pretty old school and I think my Alpine system is very good, considering the space it is in. I imagine a 4 door would be better with everything being larger. Big sound with top down? Sounds like a confused goal, wind noise is hard to fight.
Jeep did a good job on my 21 JLR.

I have the Alpine Premium Audio system in my 2022 Willys 2 door. The sound is good for what it is in. The only complaint is the sub-woofer mounted in the deck storage compartment. It gets covered up and sand and debris fall into the speaker. I want to relocate it to the side.
