I've said it before, but Chief is the best color I have ever saw on a Wrangler. Just saw this one in the sunlight a few minutes ago and had to get a pic. Simply Gorgeous!!! It's just soooo beautiful. Certainly Hydro is a close 2nd and the only acceptable color current offered, but Chief still wins by a pretty good margin.

Great color, particularly since back in the 70's it was called grabber blue on ford mustangs.

Between the two, Hydro wins for me simply because I prefer metal flake/pearl versus flat for certain color tints.

Metal Flake/Pearl = Blue, Lime Green, Red, White, Silver
Flat = Black, Yellow, Orange, Tan, OD Green, Gray

With that said, it is a great looking example of Chief...

The Hydro has mica flakes I read, but I can't find that anywhere to prove it.

Chief with mica would be the ?, epic!

Correct. That’s why they call Hydro a “Pearl Coat.” That’s Stellantis code for mica flakes. Tuscadero is the same way, hence the complexity of both colors in varying lights.

Fun fact: Punk’n has glass flakes in it and is, to my knowledge, the only color to use them. That’s why it flares occasionally, but otherwise looks like a solid color.

if I had to make a top 5 color list, It would be:

1. Gobi
2. Mojito
3. Gecko
4. Bikini Blue
5. Punkn (this one is bias ?)
I like ur bias. Ha!

It's funny you mention Gobi. This Jeep was parked about 1/2 block away from the Chief. I'm not sure if it is Gobi, but I am sure it is unequivocally the fugliest Wrangler I have ever saw. ?

But someone liked it, so that's what counts!

Thanks for the info. I wonder if the Pearl Coats are difficult to match?

I hope I never have to find out.

they definitely made variants with the Jk - I think one was cream? One was dune and of course Gobi. I can say I’ve seen way worse though lol, at least it’s not rolling on 22’s with a rough country lift and angry bird grill.

I'll politely disagree. Sorry... she's a little dirty here.

very much wanted a Mojito Wrangler, but when I ordered last year it was not longer available. From the colors I could pick from I went Hydro.

We saw a Chief in Moab and my wife really liked it as well....

When I was a kid in the 60's I had a Tonka Jeep toy(mostly metal) in that Chief colour along with white interior. Loved the colour then and love it still.
