Guide: Wrangler Order, Build, Tracking and Delivery Process

Placed my order Aug 19 for my 2nd JLUR Xtreme Recon... first one I got back in May 2019 and totaled it July 2021. Hoping to have the new one by October. Just got the VIN today, it is D status.

How long is everyone seeing for their builds to progress through the process? Is 5-6 weeks to get to the dealer realistic or is it taking longer? This is my 2nd Rubicon with Koons in VA, love working with them.

Is yours going to be an Xtreme Recon version or regular Rubicon? I had no choice if I wanted the V6 as they are currently only making Xtreme Recon versions.

Your lucky. They still can't give me any details. Going on 10 weeks for my JLURD. Was told est ship of 8/30 two weeks ago. Since then no one can find the date or has any info about it.

All parts gathered: 7/22/2021
On 7/23 Dealer provided estimated ship date: 8/4/2021
On 7/29 Dealer provided an updated ship date: 8/5/2021
On 7/30/2021 received email from customer care about estimated delivery to the dealer: Week of 9/6/2021
On 8/2, chat responded with some better news: "Your vehicle is currently in the frame stage of the build process. Currently no Dealer ETA has been provided."
On 8/4, received a build sheet and chat confirmed that vehicle is in inspection.
On 8/5, dealer provided ETA: 8/16/21-8/25/21 and confirmed the car is shipped.
On 8/6, received a window sticker.
On 8/13, visited the dealer to discuss my trade-in and they showed my that JLY is on the truck now and based on the google map within 50-60 miles from dealership.
On 8/16: car was ready to be picked up
On 8/21: final pick up

This morning, I ordered a 21 Sahara Unlimited Eco-diesel. Got every option I could think I might want on it. With Affiliate pricing, it just made sense. Dealer says FCA forecasting 2 1/2 months till arrival of completed vehicle at dealer in northern Indiana. I’ve been reading posts on order dates, build dates and delivery dates. I’m hoping my delivery date will be shorter than that but patience is a virtue I’m trying hard to acquire. Did Jeep Chat just to check in. Have VON but no VIN yet. Will be fun to watch as it goes.

Ordered 6/21/2021. Still in “D” status. No ship date and, according to Jeep Chat, still accumulating parts. I didn’t think it would take this long…

2-door, Sport S, 6-speed, soft top, 7” UConnect. Not much else.

Could it be based on the allocations that a dealership may have or not have for the month? So if a dealership only has 5 wrangler units and they order 6 would one be put on hold?
or if the dealership is behind on payments to Jeep those orders from that dealership get put on hold? It might be worth looking at your order with other wranglers from that same dealership and how fast or delayed they are for the dealer.

Doesn't a Sold Jeep go into production ahead of Wranglers that the dealer orders for the lot. Just thinking of what is the cause.

I have no idea. I do know my dealer received a few jeeps in a shipment last friday. My Jeep was a "sold" jeep, I would think a sold vehicle gets priority. But that does NOT seems to be the case.

It really varies Larry. We were told 4-6 weeks on June 25th when we ordered ours from a high volume dealer here in Philly. Got a VIN quick, but then was sitting in D forever. Long story short we are on our 9th week and it has allegedly been escalated by the dealership and Jeep Customer Care. Email last Tuesday stating "estimated production plan for either 8/30 or 9/6 but that could change" So if you get yours in that 5-6 week timeframe consider yourself extremely lucky. Something other than the chips has held it up but unfortunately we can't get a straight answer on that.

Have you gotten a status from Jeep Chat? That sux having to wait so long as you have. I just need a vehicle, being without one for a month really sux. We have my wife's car but I have nothing to drive since I totaled my 2019 JLUR July 27.

We're in the same boat. Our Jeep we bought last year was a lemon and FCA repurchased on July 16th. So we ordered 3 weeks before that thinking there would only be a slight overlap based on what the dealership said. We're without a vehicle now. Borrow here and there from friends when needed. We live in downtown area, and work from home, so it's not imperative yet. Jeep Chat is useless. Although they did allegedly escalate and give us a case#. Several of us here in the forum have received emails from "Cara" from customer care, which seem a bit canned in response. I'm just hoping for mid-september at this point.

I ordered a very similar JLU Sahara EcoDiesel on August 9th, and I have a VIN and VON, no other info yet.

JL Unlimited Rubicon ,White exterior, Manual trans, 3pc hard top, cold weather group, remote proximity keyless entry, & all weather floor mats, from Safford in Warrenton, VA. Ordered 6/21; Delivered 8/13. (51 days) The Dealer indicated 6-8 weeks when I ordered it.
