I have a CB mounted now but have switched over to handheld GMRS. Want to mount a GMRS set-up in the JL and be lazy by just using the existing antenna cable. Can use my CB cable and a GMRS antenna?

I have the mx275 with their 6db antenna. I made my own mount using some 2” aluminum angle, 0.062” thick. It slips behind the driver side cowl by the A pillar. Just barely fits but came out nice I think. I left it long for strength and in case I ever want to add an antenna or flag mount.

Anyone have experience with installing the GMRS antenna with the CoolTech JL CB Bracket as well as the Mopar OEM Tailgate Reinforcement? I cannot get the antenna to clear the reinforcement with the bracket. Tried multiple orientations.

I've got mine mounted to the Mopar a-pillar bracket as well. I'm just running the ghost antenna, but I need to shorten my coax since I've got a good 3 feet of extra cable I don't need. For now, though, it works.

Do you have an update on your ghost antenna? Looking to add dual band GMRS radio to vehicle. Trying to avoid adding more large antennas than I already have on it.

I haven't had the time to shorten the coax, but it's not an urgent thing since I don't have any upcoming wheeling trips planned and don't use the radio for any other purpose. As it sits now, though, it works just fine and I like the placement of it where it is.

Have you at least had an opportunity to see how well it transmits and receives and what kind of range you are getting? Do you have another radio like a HT to compare RX/TX? Just interested in knowing your field experience with your current setup. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Wow, "Lt. Uhura open a hailing frequency.". Nice comms setup.

One of my jobs over the past few years was an interim county director of emergency services with oversight responsibilities for emergency communications and emergency management. We ran everything, particularly in our mobile communications response vehicle.
