I am a huge fan of naturally aspirated V8 motors.

If the Wrangler Rubicon 392 was a supercharged V8 I would probably have passed on ordering one.

For the record, I love inline-6 engines - I grew up working on the very early BMW engines. They were like turbines - silky smooth, with power that just built perfectly with RPMs. I still have an early 70's Bavaria that is just plain heaven to drive.

If the I-6 twin turbo engines have a 10 year 100k powertrain warranty on them, I'll get one.

I love the sound of the "old" V8 roar, and I'm happy to keep that alive as long as I am alive (probably not as long as those V8s will be roaring).

I am thankful the option doesn’t exist, this old hot rodder would have gone for it, disregarding the lesson of ruining my CJ5 by replacing it’s L79 Chevy with a 6-71 blown 350, Way Overpowering It! Fortunately 392’s weak, high compression, short skirt pistons don’t take well to supercharging or there would be a Whipple when available and one already on my GC SRT, Yea, I did the research. Only 6 lbs boost, but the latest generation Whipple might be better. See, There I Go Again! ?

Tree huggers can kiss my spare tire. As they all go EV, and the power grid craps out, and gas prices have come down like crazy due to lack of demand, I'll be laughing as I stomp on the loud pedal while they're calling the utility company for power.
Pardon me while I roll coal all over your pretty little Jeep with my 15.2L CANYONERO!

12 yards long, 2 lanes wide, 65 tons of American Pride!

(it's made in Mexico with parts from China though)

I do like those NA V8s though.

I bought mine assuming it was going away in 2023. It makes sense they will put in the new I6 power plant. If it stays then I have a better chance of Jeep helping me with parts, and if it goes away I have an instant classic. I’d sure like to see more people be able to get one though.
My sentiments exactly?

If the grid goes out you won’t be pumping gas.

Get em while you still can.
Starting to look like the automotive industry in the mid 70's all over again, small cars and all that garbage.
Next thing you know they will create another phoney oil shortage. Most here probably are not old enough to remember the lines around the block just to get a tank of gas in the mid 70"s.
Next thing you know they will say, no more gas lawn mowers.

It’s 1970 all over again, the end of the muscle cars- with a few left in 71 due to an immediately closed for 72 loophole for multiple carburetors (how the Hemi cars got an extra year at full power). Then the Arab oil embargo- lines around the block at the stations that Had Gas, limits on how many gallons you could get, you could only get gas on certain days depending on your license ending in an odd or even number, the introduction of “gasahol” as it was first called that caused fuel system damage to the cars of that time that weren’t designed for it ( MC’s too, my Shovelhead). Loss of the 100 octane pump gas that top tier muscle cars required (my 1 of 500 GTX). Prices— 100 octane was ~ 36.9c for a long time prior. As I recall 92 octane was about as high as it got, the price went up daily, often increased during the day to many multiples of 36.9 !! With skyrocketing overall inflation, the “Misery Index” times!! Edit— gas powered small tools already Banned in Ca . “History may not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme “ ?

You shouldn't have an issue with parts (other than the regular supply chain issue). Manufacturers are required to provided parts for at least 10 years after they stop producing a particular model.

Market economics and representative democracy is what the US has. We all will just have to deal with what comes.

I should send that memo to Dodge.... Viper parts are impossible to get these days - and the car went out of production in 2017. Lots of pissed off owners who have something as minor as a door latch or a window regulator that they have been waiting on for six months. Some aftermarket companies will come to the rescue eventually.

It won't be all EV. Alot of engines will actually be turbo like the new I6 coming out.

I find it strange that the 392 engine comes with a sturdy forged crank but crappy pistons.
