With the GDE tune, Can the def and egr be deleted?
That is not currently an option that I am aware of but it does reduce the high pressure EGR utilization. Also worth noting that it has signifigantly reduced my DPF Soot load percentage so it seems as though the engine is running much more effeciently.

Most likely NO. They are an emission compliant tune and emissions needs those 2 things to stay compliant.

I just got there updated tune since I bought there thermostat and claimed I needed the new tune. I installed a s&b cold air intake the week before and then last weekend I installed the ace charge pipes, thermostat and updated tune. I had an issue at first but that was my own fault once it was running it def felt more powerful then there old tune I got back in September. Because I’m getting a p2002 cel I went back to the first tune to see a if that clears the cel it did not but you can def tell there is a difference between the tunes. I retuned back to stock so it can go to the dealer and take care of the p2002 and then I’ll go back to the new tune.

I did take a friend on a ride with me on the new tune. He currently drives a integra type s with mods. Has had a 400+whp GTI and several wrx/sti modded vehicles and he was suprised how fast the jeep was running stock gears and 37” tires.

Installing the thermostat wasn’t bad but the one bolt can be a pain to get to and put it back in. Recommend getting that bolt started before getting the top one done. I don’t loose to much coolant by swapping them but def notice temps cooler in daily running once I get it back from the dpf issue I’ll head up into the mountains and see how it does.

Thanks was wondering about that. I think im going to drain and refill my coolant when i do the swap anyway but this will be something else ill need to do if i take it to the dealer and have to remove the tune so good to know it isnt too bad.

I don’t know if I would have had any issues with having it tuned to get the dpf fixed but figured better safe then sorry. What I’ve noticed driving it with the thermostat installed and with there old tune and stock tune is it didn’t effect the jeep at all except just running cooler temps all around.

I did the hot tune about a month ago. A few things I’ve noticed:
Torque converter lock up on deceleration has me using a lot less brakes
Holding lower gears when cold warms it up faster
It holds 8th up hills with the cruise on
No more turbo lag
Dpf builds up way slower.
regens have pushed to 1200 miles instead of 750ish
Engine sounds a little different
Thing you can’t tell but that made me do it include fuel pump remapping and egr use. I have seen no difference in def use.
from what they told me hot tune is 49 states legal and afterlife is legal after 150k miles.
So far I’m really enjoying the changes. Took about an hour to do at their shop.
as part of the tune you get a power gate device that plugs into the sgw or obd port and connects to an app on your phone that lets you move back and forth between stock and gde tune.

Oh I forgot about the sound when I did the upgraded tune it the engine def sound smoother and less diesel like. When I went back to the stock tune it sounded like a diesel again.

Might want to check 1500 Ram Diesel .com the 2020+ general section. There is a big long thread chock full of UOA's stickied at the top. One or some of the emissions on GDE tunes have been shown to cause some pretty significant wear. I want to say like 3 times as much wear. Doesn't mean your engine will not last, but in simple terms to me 3 times the wear basically equates to shortening the life span by 2/3. Maybe it won't work out that way, gotta wait to see. But anecdotally guys that have delete tunes show less wear than stock. One of these sounds very problematic to me. Anyhow, might want to check it out.

For what it's worth, I had my first Used Oil Analysis after my tune and wear indicators were nearly identical to all of my UOA's before the tune. I haven't driven as much since we got our EV and with my work trips being longer (fewer trips to the Airport) but I am sure that some others on here can comment on long-term wear.

I still totally enjoy my GDE tune, with the only exception being that it feels more jumpy when doing the trails than it did with the factory tune - but that could be needing to get re-used to it after a too-busy year when I haven't been able to get out on the trails.

Good to hear. From what I was told there was a previous tune that was aces, then there was a change that really got things sideways. And the speculation is that the delete tune/s from GDE is really the best there is, bar none. But somewhere in the middle there with the emissions on stuff it was bad news. And the only way to know was UOA's. And then the MRT/EOC tuning is kinda just ok.

I admit though for me/from me it's just hearsay. I have some first hand experience (not GDE) and also do not have any UOA's as of yet to add to the collective knowledge base. Just what I heard was that there was/is a GDE tune that is seemingly bad news. Not to chicken little it, but you know if you heard some stories where a specific tire was failing on folks you'd want them be aware of the possibility.
