In my 2019 JL 2Dr Sport (manual 6 speed) I have noticed some odd throttle issues. First, I’m old so forgive this question as coming from someone who only knows about mechanical throttle controls.

Is the throttle on the 3.6L some kind of computer controlled gizmo? Periodically , when I let up on my throttle the engine either slightly increases RPMs or maintains the same RPMs for a brief time after raising my foot - maybe a half-second or so. On more than one occasion it has behaved like a stuck throttle and even increased in RPMs dramatically - one of those occasions caused me to shut it down completely with the off button thing that took the place of a key.

Anybody else experiencing this and solved it? I saw a couple of posts here and there but no solutions.

Thanks

The throttle is drive-by-wire, so that could explain some of what you’re feeling. I tend to notice a similar thing, but it’s never bothered me enough to really take all that much notice.

This is clutch disengaged? Apparently there's some emissions programming called "rev hang" which may explain what you're experiencing.

Rev hang. It’s intentional. Shift earlier to work around it (doesn’t happen unless you shift at like 4500 or higher).

Unless the cops are after me, I shift at 2500 - 3500 and no hang.

When the gas pedal is depressed there is a sensor that tells the position of the pedal. There is no actual wire anymore. What you are experiencing is rev-hang. This is done on purpose to burn up any lingering gas to keep emissions low. I hate it!!

I have to get up that 4500 just to get out of my neighborhood and into a gap In the traffic ?

The gearing makes a big difference with the 6sp. Rubicon has an advantage, there.

There hasn't been a throttle cable in about 20 years.
Unfortunately. The drive-by-wire throttle is necessary to allow traction control to work, but I sure hate rev hang. When I stomp on the gas to do donuts in a snowy parking lot, then let off, it seems like 5 seconds the engine is racing with the clutch disengaged.
