Frontal camera, anyone considered yet for uconnect?

I was told at Easter Jeep Safari yesterday at the Jeep display that a front camera is in the works. No time line given. It might be retroactive as a kit to those that have already purchased a 2018. Sounds good, we shall see.

FCA employee that was referred me as being a Jeep engineer at the FCA display in Moab. He seemed to know about changes in the works and changes for 2019 model year.

What would be really cool is to have a "surround" view of the underside when offroading.

The new GMC 1500 Offroad has a front camera, so it's only a matter of time before Jeep and RAM do one.

Would an aftermarket camera (not made by Mopar) be able to tie into the Uconnect screen? Or is that blocked off to aftermarket developers?

Audi sure has a nice 360 degree camera system.

My wifes 2018 Chrysler Pacifica has one. So it wouldn't be to far fetched to just borrow that setup since it's also a Uconnect system. Mostly there for the autopark feature that we never use..

If I recall correctly I believe the Tazer allows you to access multiple cameras based on the optional inputs. So it sounds doable. just need a camera with appropriate connectors I suppose.

I have a front camera to install already.

Waiting for my tazer to show up.

I will probably install the camera tomorrow so it will be ready for the Tazer when it gets here.

I am assuming the connection is just a composite connection. I shall see tomorrow, I suppose.

Tazer JL does have a Cargo Camera option. You might be able to use that for a front camera.
