I had a Stinger with front camera and it was very helpful for parking in those hard spots, specially when going to downtown. I'm amazed at how great at parking I was back then ?
I've been driving a Miata for a few years now and I'm ashamed to admit I've bumped into objects a few times. If not for off-roading, at least I though it would be helpful for parking the whole 188.4″ of Wrangler properly.

See how much the dealer would charge to order the parts and add it to the one that doesn't have it. I assume its possible to add one after the fact on the newer ones that offered it as an option, but I could be wrong. Certainly seems worth asking.
Sales guy said the dealer can't add it after it's built, but there are a few good aftermarket options. He sounded sincere, but maybe he was just ignorant that it can be done?

Really?! Where have you heard that?
Direct from the Z Automotive website (owner of the Tazer).
"Cargo camera input is not a Hi-Definition input like the backup camera, so the video quality will not be as good! This is a high-quality standard definition (480i) camera. There is no way to add a high-definition cargo camera input to the JL radio."

For serious rock crawling, it's a must. It's so important that I'm ordering a 2023 JLUR because I didn't know how essential it is to crawling when I ordered my 2021 JLR. I searched in this forum before buying and all I found was how great it is for youtube videos, no mention of how useful it is when crawling. I have this camera which is far superior to nothing but nothing like the factor high resolution camera, that's why I'm getting a new Rubicon.

Being new to offroading, I thought it was just a cool feature. I went ahead with it on my order thinking I did not want to regret it if it was practical. Glad I did as the first hilly offroad venture I learned its value.

If you don't offroad in hilly areas then not worth it. If you do, then get the OEM. Works great. Can you wheel without it... of course. Just another tool that technology brings us.

Casual off-roading I’ve found it very beneficial to pick lines. I’ve used it more to park close to others. Although with a metal bumper I should just give it a kiss metal to plastic naturally when I park.

FYI, Tazer has a retrofit kit, and some have pieced together some even cheaper options.

I believe the 4xe has the Gladiator grill, so that version would be needed.

I will say, there have been a lot of time off road that I felt it would be helpful. On the other hand, I have a winch, bull bar, and lights, so there seems to be significant impact to the usefulness in that situation from the pictures I've seen.
Amazon has one that works with the Tazer and it works very well. My brother put one on his Gladiator. It is only $100. The Tazer version is $179.

I have it in my 4xe and have no regrets. If you off road, you’ll want it.

Seriously though this is how it’s going to go. If you don’t get it, you’ll wish you had. If you wait and do get it, and some point you’ll say, “ could have done without”. ? one thing I learned when buying my Jeep…get what you want right away, otherwise you’ll always be wishing you had.

The decision was easy for me

IF....you offroad, and have ever ended up going up a steep incline and seeing nothing but hood and blue sky, and then having to get out of the Jeep and do a little recon.....you'll realize it's well worth it.

If you're a road warrior and not offroading, then it's just a nice-to-have

Hi all,

I ordered a Wrangler Rubicon 4xe without the front camera cause I was trying to keep the price within reason, but after a weekend of thinking about it I called the dealer to modify the order to include the camera. Sales person said he made a new order and all was good. Now, the Wrangler without the camera is on KZ supposedly on it's way to the dealer, and the one with camera is still on D status.

Sales guy said I can pick up the one without the camera if I want, thoughts on if the front camera is worth it?
I ordered it and wondered if it was worth it. After doing Hells Revenge and Fins and Things in Moab I’m fully convinced I will never order another Jeep without it.

it’s great to follow a line with the need for a spotter or hanging out the window to see the line.

I think you will like it.

with that said, I have a friend with the camera and then installed a anov the bumper. Now the only thing she sees on the camera is the backside of her Warn winch. Just beware you will want a winch between the frame.

Absolutley not true. I have front and rear cameras and neither is low resolution.
Agreed. They’re both hi-def, it’s the third party ones that are not.

Another advantage the stock trail cam has is the connection to the washer fluid for cleaning. Super nice to have!
