Front bumper hoop mod

A half inch thick spacer is all it took. I did not need to trim the bumper or grill shell. I did trim the ends off of the panel that attaches to the back top of the bumper. And slotted the lower two bolt holes in the lower plastic skid plate cover.

Found this on a Gladiator forum and thought it would be good to share here. This guy mounted a Westin light bar on his Sport (plastic bumper) designed for a JK and only slightly modified the mounting brackets.

I like it and will investigate further for myself.

I am trying to do this on my ‘21 and I can’t figure out how to get nuts on the bolts that are through the frame. There isn’t a hole big enough to get any tool in there to mount! I’m at a loss!

The bottom of the frame below where the bolts are visible in this picture should have a cavity big enough to fix a wrench on the inside. That is how I held the nuts for tightening.

Super impressive! Would you mind explaining in more detail the installation process? Any other photos/videos would be much appreciated! I just ordered the bullbar, hoping the installation won't give me too much trouble. Thanks -Jordan

After the front bumper is off and the the bare frame horns are sticking out I centered the hoop and marked the new holes to drill and tap with 5/16 inch fine thread bolts into the top of the frame. You could probably use a large self tapping screw but the frame is thick enough to tap. I have a light bar on it now. (Road to crisp point light House Michigan upper peninsula during the fall JEEP CREEP)
