Particle board would not have been my first choice, but it's what I had. Aluminum or nylon plate would be better. I'll see if I can take a peek in there and see how it's holding up.

if you could take any type of pics again from the top or from the side that would help a ton.

The wood spacer is holding up fine. Four years in service now.

ahhh ok so you trimmed the bumper filler instead of totally removing it. Besides the spacer you made, are there any other aftermarket parts used to make this work? any other extra brackets etc? (besides what comes with the bull bar) So basically drilling as close as possible on the bumper frame closest to the grill, and using the material that came with the bull bar?

You got it. Except the bull bar no aftermarket parts. Only scratch built part is the spacer to move the bumper a half in forward. Bull bar sits on the top of the frame rails as close as possible to the grill shell and drilled and tapped into the top of the frame. It's rock solid.
Trimmed the bumper filler to fit around the bull bar, trimming off the outmost ends of it as shown. Slotted the lower two bolt holes in the lower splash shield under the bumper because the bumper is a half inch forward. My JL is a Sport with a Sport one piece grill shell. The bumper assembly is a plastic Rubicon take off. Tom

Do you have the dimensions for the spacer? I would literally pay you to make me one out of nylon or something LOL

I think I found someone who makes this spacer. Does look like it would work? (if i got enough to make half inch of space)

or I found this listing on extremeterrain
