Picked up my new Jeep today! First Jeep I’ve ever owned. Always wondered what the big deal was about Jeeps, never really got it before. Finally had the chance to lease one through work so I figured I’d give it a shot.

Man what a fun vehicle to drive! They look cool outside, look cool inside, fun to drive, etc. It’s like driving a little tank with the short stubby windshield and dashboard and long straight hood. I like the boxy look.

Definitely a big change from the Challenger R/T I was previously leasing. I was getting onto the highway on one of those on-ramps that curve around and forgot I was no longer in a muscle car with performance suspension haha! Had to slow down a bit! But it rides and handles well for an off road vehicle.

I ended up getting the 2.0L turbo engine. Has much more power than I was expecting. Never felt slow either from a dead stop or a roll on the freeway. Plenty of power. Supposedly it gets 21/22mpg, so we’ll see where I end up falling. I drive mostly freeway, so it should be on the higher end of the spectrum.

I wasn’t sure what trim level to get at first either. Sport, Sport S, Sahara, or Rubicon. Obviously I loved the Rubicon, but after really looking hard at what I was going to use the Jeep for, it seemed like I’d be paying for a lot of extra off road stuff that I’d likely never use. I just wasn’t sold on the Sahara’s looks for some reason (wheels, running boards, not sure what it was). The Sport was too bare bones for me, so I opted for the Sport S. Exactly what I was wanting.

I didn’t get many options either, but the S package seems to have a lot of stuff standard anyway. I got the hardtop, headliner, and technology group, that’s it. Surprisingly the stereo sounds better than the one in the Challenger I had.

I can’t wait for summer, going to take the top and doors off for sure. It’s a bit too cold for that in Michigan right now though haha!

Really looking forward to driving the Jeep more and getting to know it better. I think I’m going to really enjoy it!

Congratulations and welcome to the community!

Mine is also my first Jeep ever and I fully agree with you about it being so fun to drive, even on the same old drive to work and the normal running of errands. I'm now a couple weeks past my first year anniversary of ownership and the honeymoon hasn't faded a bit. I still take the long way home when not pressed for time.

Cheers to many smiles with the miles, fellow Jeeper!

ISN'T IT WONDERFUL?! Smiles per miles is a real thing in a Jeep. Wait a couple of weeks until you fully adjust... you'll never go back! Unless you're that one guy who owned one for 6 months but missed his old ride (whatever it was, I forget) so he went back to it. Then six months later he went back to the Jeep. LOL

Beautiful jeep!!

Congrats and welcome! I picked up my first Jeep - a 2018 4-door Sport S - just a few months ago and I really am enjoying it a ton, despite selling my first gen Miata to make room in the garage for the Jeep. To me, the Jeep offers the same smiles per mile that the Miata did - but now I can take my 2 year old daughter with me and drive it year round!

Can't wait for summer to go find a soft top and ride around in the sun and I agree that the Sport S is quite a nice setup.

Thanks! I can't wait to put some miles on it! I just picked it up earlier today and I'm already loving it haha!

Should be a fun vehicle to take on family trips too. Seems to be a lot of room in the back for stuff with the 4 door. The rear seat legroom seems pretty good too.

Congrats! Nice looking Jeep. We bought our Rubicon even though we paid for a lot of capability we will never use. Sort of the same when we bought our 350 Z that would do 150 and stop on a dime and handle turns at ridiculous speeds.

Haha yeah I can relate. I have a Scat Pack Challenger that I did a few mods to. Well over 500hp, but can't hardly use that on the street! But I do drag race it in the summer so I do use the power at least sometimes.

The Rubicons are nice! They look great in stock form.

Congratulations on your purchase, looks great. But I'm more interested in your 1972 Chevy Nova, brings back memories for me. I had a Chevy Nova in High School, great car.

Must get a pretty good lease deal working at Chrysler. The Jeep is a good choice, it'll serve you well.
