Can anyone explain why these two identical Jeeps have two different base prices? The only difference I can spot is one has a tow hitch and other does not

Jeep 1 (w/ hitch): $49,805 base, $59,235 msrp
https://www.jeep.com/hostd/windowsticker/getWindowStickerPdf.do?vin=1C4JJXP68MW763178

Jeep 2 (no hitch): $51,225 base, $59,940 msrp
https://www.jeep.com/hostd/windowsticker/getWindowStickerPdf.do?vin=1C4JJXP64MW824896

I know the hitch is an option that costs moneu but why is the base $1,420 different?

maybe it was just a middle-of-the-year price bump?

Wouldn’t be the first time for Jeep in recent history (if memory serves)

Stellantis has been on a bender, with respect to recurring price increases during the course of each model year. The $1,420.00 variance could be exactly that. Comparing the difference in the last six digits of each vehicle's VIN numbers seems to reinforce it.

Concur with Heimkehr. I looked at it from multiple angles and believe it's literally just timing of build and the jacked-up pricing they were doing at the time. Crazy, I know...

I finally found one that I liked, but upon looking under the vehicle, there seems to be a decent amount of rust, especially for a 2021. I finally found one that I liked but upon looking under the vehicle, there seems to be a decent amount of rust, especially for a 2021. What are your thoughts?

Whew. Yeah, that must be from the road salt y'all have up there. Could be superficial, but I'd have a pro look at it to make a solid call. I personally would not get that based on what I see.

Agree. Even PA roads tend not to have that effect. That said, after PENNDOT goes on a brine bender, I do make the time to rinse off the underside of my JLU before pulling it into the garage.

I’ve looked under abour 6 Jeeps in the last 24 hours and I’ve only seen one with rust.

All on the Cape? I'd be surprised if they all didn't look like the one above if they weren't treated with fluid film or similar. With salty air and salty roads, rust is inevitable if not treated.

That's very promising if you're not seeing rust on the Cape. Post pics?

Here's one I looked at for a fellow forum member in NH. IIRC, It was 4 yrs old and had about 40k miles on it.
