Alert! FIRST Wrangler Order Imminent! Need advice!

I’m finally ordering my first Jeep! As exciting as this is, it’s also nerve-racking and daunting. I’m waffling back and forth between a Willy’s and a Sport S. I live in West Michigan, so lots of wilderness here, and seasonal weather. My budget allows for some additions though, isn’t limitless. I’d really appreciate collective advice on what I can and can’t live without; upgrades that are essential and those I can avoid without later regret. I’ve lurked here for a few months and am impressed with the group. Thanks in advance for your input!

I was in a similar boat. I like the willys package, so that's what I did. But I downgraded to the sport model.

The wheels, tires, suspension, LSD. Felt like a bigger upgrade than I was getting with automatic locks (which can be installed cheap aftermarket). Replacing wheels and tires themselves might be 2k aftermarket...

If you're looking at a willys VS sport s w/ cold weather pack. That's a tough choice. Heated seats are nice, but but both models will have heated side mirrors regardless of cold weather pack (safety is important too!). If off road ability from the factory is more important, or you just know you'll be spending money on wheels... The willys might be a better choice. If comfort is priority get the S and load it up with the options you want. If you can afford to swap wheels out/suspension later on you can always do that. Harder to put on heated steering wheels or ACC.

Have you spoken to a good dealer that is offering the best price? You should be ~6‰ under dealer INVOICE. Probably need an fca affiliate number (you can get this by paying $100 for a treadlightly membership) If you need to get with a better dealer, you might be able to afford more :)

I had ordered a Sport S back in August pretty loaded up. But was having buyers remorse as I really wanted a Willys, but didn’t want the mud tires. Fast forward and a buddy of mine who has a Rubicon was getting new rims and tires and said he would just give me the takeoffs for free. Now it’s December and my Sport S still isn’t built. I went on the Jeep site and searched dealer inventory and found a Willys about 2 hours away with the same color and exact options I ordered my Sport S. My original dealer gave me my deposit back and I bought the Willys. I put the KO2’s from the Rubicon on my stock Willys rims and sold the mud tires and the Rubicon rims. I couldn’t be happier. I love the Willys. To me it just looks better. I like the bumpers that come on the Willys better than the Sport S bumpers. Plus you get the LSD and the Dana 44 rear on the Willys. I wish it came with a 3:73 or 4:10 rear end. That’s my only complaint. With the 3:45 rear and the 285/70/17 KO2’s, I find it has a hard time holding 8th gear in the highway. Any slight incline and it drops back into 7th.

I bought a 2021 Sport S. I like it a lot, but if I had a redo I would order a Willy's with the Selec-Trac Full-Time 4WD.

Don’t skimp out on the Selec-Trac Full-Time 4WD - $695 well spent! So many people over look this option.
