Hello everyone!
My husband and I just bought our first car, a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara, and I am absolutely in love with it. I am a total newbie when it comes to cars in general, but I would love to have this Jeep forever basically and so I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions of where to start reading up on how to stay up-to-date with maintenance, how to make sure it's 'doing well', etc. (Besides reading the owner's manual and taking it to the mechanic) - Hope that question makes sense... Thank you in advance!

Welcome aboard and congratulations on not only your first car but also your first Jeep. I would suggest combing through this forum as there is a wealth of information here. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions as almost all the people here are willing to help. I’m pretty new to Jeeps myself and have learned a lot just buy reading the forums.

Congrats! You're going to love the freedom you have with a Jeep!

If you haven't already downloaded it, there's a Jeep app that lists routine service intervals and what should be covered during each milestone. Would be a good place to start learning about what is required now and what you should plan for in the future.

Also, there are a million opinions on oil change intervals, but I like to do mine every 5k miles, and I rotate all 5 tires at that time as well. Depending on how many miles are on your tires, you may not be able to mix the spare in at this time, but you can always start when you get a new set! This guarantees you don't let a perfectly good tire expire/rot without any road time, but you will have an extra tire to buy later on too (or just keep the best looking worn one as a spare and go back to 4 tire rotations).

Awesome! Downloading the app now! Thank you!!

What? Married and neither one of you have ever owner a vehicle?

DO NOT use the Jeep dealer for maintenance. Only use them if you have a significant warranty concern or a recall. Research for an independent ASE certified repair shop in your area. Make sure they have been in business for several years. Check their reviews. Interview the shops beforehand, so you will have no question when it comes time for that oil change or other maintenance and repairs. Let them know that you are checking them out ahead of time. If they are good people, they will probably appreciate what you’re doing.

Don’t get overwhelmed or worried by all of the posts you read here. Some come here to vent about issues and others are hard core Jeepers who essentially re engineer and rebuild their vehicles. Don’t plan on any modifications until you drive it for a few thousand miles. As for me, I don’t fix what isn’t broken. When it breaks, I replace that part with a much better one, if available. 2.5 years and 19k miles and I’ve never returned to the dealer.

It is of course a Jeep and not a car! It has 2 solid axles, cars do not.

May we have photos of your jeep!

Suggest you read the manual. Wipers, blinkers, lights, Infotainment system, how to change in and out of 4wd etc etc.

I Love My Jeep!

Some people say whenever a Jeep is called a car, God kills a kitten. Congratulations on the purchase on your Jeep! Time to go out and enjoy it!

Didn't the Model T and other cars of that era have both front and rear beam axles back in the day?

car (kär) n. a road vehicle with an engine and four wheels that can carry a small number of passengers
