Even though it was a nickname during the war, since the name “Jeep” wasn’t officially trademarked until 1950 “technically” the Willys MB and Ford GPW were simply 1/4 ton quad trucks and not Jeeps. It’s a silly detail to be hung up on so I only bring it up when people have issues calling Jeep a car, a rim a wheel, or a motor an engine. ?. That history you shared is awesome! I’ll have to check out that show. I grew up watching Dukes of Hazard. I blame Daisy Duke for my Jeep obsession and the boys for all of my speeding and reckless driving tickets…
How could G P (general purpose) not become Jeep by the GI’s. That gives us One thing to thank the government for. I’m old— blame “Nellebell” . From the Roy Rogers show for those too young and scratching their head.

Make sure to run your Jeep hard and always help out those who are less fortunate than you. Less fortunate means those who don't own a Jeep Wrangler. Even a stock sport will do more than most other vehicles on the market. Below are pictures of me pulling a friend out of a stack of sand with a 4x4 Ram pulling a trailer. The first picture is my favorite "Hi! I'm your friendly local Jeep, would you like a pull?"

The Jeep Wrangler is better than the dealership network and manufacturer.

I'm about a decade older and have always considered just the outer portion of a wheel to be the "rim". Tires are tires, wheels are wheels and the whole package being tires mounted on wheels. One of few times I would ever make reference to the rim is "Oh no, he curbed his wheel and scratched up the rim (of the wheel)."

I first noticed the usage of "rims" as slang for wheels when listening to rap growing up in the late 80s into the 90s, but still thought it seemed grammatically incorrect (not sure if its etymology predates that or not).

It's similar to loading up your pistol "clip" (magazine) with "bullets" (ammo/cartridges/rounds), since the bullet is only one part of a loaded cartridge and not a singular thing until it's fired.

But, whatever floats your boat is cool with me ??

Interesting I do not know that. Appreciate the info. Yeah same, growing up in Connecticut and the '90s that's basically what everyone called them, rims. Directly related to rap/urban culture. Makes sense though, it is the rim of the wheel.

Hello everyone!
My husband and I just bought our first car, a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara, and I am absolutely in love with it. I am a total newbie when it comes to cars in general, but I would love to have this Jeep forever basically and so I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions of where to start reading up on how to stay up-to-date with maintenance, how to make sure it's 'doing well', etc. (Besides reading the owner's manual and taking it to the mechanic) - Hope that question makes sense... Thank you in advance!

I’ll call my Jeep a car and you can too. Angry eyes are where the line has to be drawn though. Nice Jeep! Really nice!
