I believe that's illegal in CA. But then, what isn't. I did buy a 08 pickup that had 100 miles on it. It had been driven from their dealership in one county to another they owned. No big deal. I put another 100 miles on it immediately, while driving it back to the town where that other dealership was to visit friends. Before I got home, I had about 500 miles added to that 100.It. Was. Me.Just kidding
One of the trucks that I purchased had 188 miles on it and was sold as new. I had no idea why the vehicle was detailed and all the stickers removed before it was green lit by me.
I found out that it was a dealer trade and had been sold to someone else BUT they changed their mind and brought it back. The dealer never told me at the time of purchase, I found out much, much later. SMH.
Exactly, I know of dealers who have to rent and store their inventory miles away.Around here, most dealerships don't store the majority of their new car inventory at the same location as the showroom. Of course, a few are kept within the showroom and others are available for test drives. The rest are typically stored in a dealer owned or rented storage yard or warehouse. When purchased/leased, the new vehicle is driven to a prep facility (if not the same as the service facility), dealer prep performed and then driven to the showroom location for delivery. This does tend to put a few miles on the vehicle, in addition to the test miles done at the factory.
@Formattc,I drove it on the highway last night. When I exited the highway and slowed to almost stopped at the light at the ramp, there was a readily audible "bang" sound when it down shifted. Also, it was a bit windy here last night, 15 MPH winds, and it was hard to keep it between the lines. Man, this is my dream vehicle, I saved up for 2.5 years for it. I so hope it's not a lemon.
I’d recommend having the dealer check your alignment. The toe was off on mine (not enough and uneven). The caster was also at too low an angle, The Rubicons have the same LCAs as the other models yet are taller. The caster on mine was at 4.7. The Mopar lift LCAs took it to 6, which was a big improvement. If I were to do it again, I’d install adjustable LCAs because others have had success with caster to 7+.I drove it on the highway last night. Yeah, I'm a firm believer in fluid changes around that time. I have a Blazer that I had the fluid changed in at 55,000 miles and it still crisp and tight at 133,000 miles.ZF makes these 8 speed trans and they are pretty stout. Same company that goes in bentlys, bmw, rolls-royce, audi etc etc. Not to say they are bullet proof but far from the crap that Chrystler has used in the past.
Also, ZF recommends a 60k mile fluid change in these. Dont listen to the "lifetime" marketing BS from FCA.
Mine has 10,000 miles on it and when it downshifts sometimes I feel like its abrupt. I've always driven manual transmissions up to this point so I just figured it was part of driving an auto. Hopefully its nothing to worry about.UPDATE:
The guy across the street is a Jeeper and I finally got around to introducing myself, he has a 2016 JKU, modified. His buddy was over who happens to work for a CDJR dealership in a town about 50 miles away, and he had a perfectly viable explanation for the extra nine miles on the Jeep when I picked it up. This guy also said that it's pretty unlikely that any damage was done to the transmission and that I should give it time to break in. I guess I'm being a bit paranoid since I'm accustomed to very crisp GM transmissions, and they're not all the same. Still, the sudden slamming into first at stop lights is a bit concerning, but it doesn't do it all the time, maybe 10% of the time, especially not if I'm braking easily. I also think this might have something to do with the engine braking, "downhill assist". Anyway, it's under warranty, so I'm going to put some more miles on it, not worry about it and enjoy my new Rubicon, and enjoying it I am, the thing is a real pleasure to drive, and turns heads everywhere I go. After about 1500-2000 miles if it keeps up or gets worse I'll take it in, but I'm just going to let it break in for now.
Hi SmoothJeepOperator, So happy to hear that your are enjoying your Jeep. I can definitely relate to looking back at my vehicles with a smile after parking. Should you have any concerns in the future, please do not hesitate to reach out!Blowing in the wind on the highway seems normal. It isn't the most fun ride at that point I must admit but the thing is a big block catching wind so it makes sense to me. I have gotten use to it. Definitely take it in for that loud sound you heard.
Yea and the compliments? They don't stop I have had my Jeep since August of 18 I have always gotten at least 1 to 2 compliments weekly... So sometimes more than that. I still look back at it when I park and go into anywhere. Most excited I've been about a vehicle in my life!
