I was wondering about that. Is there any point to putting on aftermarket flares with stock Rubicon 33s? Does anyone make JL aftermarket flares yet?
I've been looking haven't found any yet, but the last couple of weeks I have seen a bunch of jl parts come out . So I would imagine flares should be out any day now .

With the JL being so new, I'm going to guess MOPAR replacement fenders won't be in stock most places. Unless this is a common problem. They may have the clips on hand and hook you up because you just spent $50k on a new Jeep. I would go to the dealer.

To my thinking a more likely scenario is damage from another car in parking lot.

My driver's side rear fender came undone in a couple of spots as well and I wasn't sure if it was related to an off-roading trip or someone getting in or out of the vehicle. I took it in and they said that they "may" be able to cover it under warranty but I would need to leave it with them because it takes a while to remove the rivets underneath the fender to remove the cover and they weren't sure how long it would take to get a new fender in since it's a new model.

If the OP believes the branches were not the cause then I agree, take it to the dealer and have it repaired under warranty. I guess I'm also a little surprised that the only attachment hardware is plastic clips. Maybe thats a good thing for the off-roading set, as the body doesn't get hurt if a flare gets ripped-off by an obstacle.

@jlrocks, I have damaged/detached the fenders on on JK multiple times. The dealership wanted ~$120 to reattached a single fender. I did some research on the internets and found the tool/equipment required for a DIY repair.

Not sure if the JL and JK fenders are attached by the same types of connectors, but here is what I purchased to reattached my JK fenders:

Lisle 35260 Plastic Fastener Remover

1 X 25 Jeep Fender Flare & Rocker Moulding Clip 68039280-AA Wrangler Unlimited JK by Clipsandfasteners Inc

25 Fender & Bumper Shield Clips GM Ford Chrysler

That much damage would easily leave a mark on the fender flare if it was hit or was dragged along something.

I had a problem with my brand new JLU Rubicon with the driver side wheel well. It caught the wind and made a terrible noise when driving over 50 mph.

When I took it to the dealer it was a missing clip. I would recommend everyone look at all of the connection points for the plastic clip attached parts on the exterior of your vehicles, because as I read the forum, this is a common occurrence. They are missing clips from time to time and though it does not cause a problem on day one, by the time it is noticed FCA can claim that the loss of clip was due to the owner, even when the clip was not there in the first place.

Keep them honest. Look to make sure the clips are there. When I went to the dealer to get them to provide the clip that was missing they tried to charge me the $4 and change for 1 small plastic clip of course I reminded them of the warranty and easily drove away.

You should clean your car and call them on it if there are any missing clips. I would not automatically assume you lost them on the trail.

The clips are designed to break away before sheet metal damage happens. If they cranked down the fenders with harder clips the metal would twist up on the fender sheet metal. That's the problem with metal tube fenders.

Unless the holes on the fender for the plastic clips were broken or the sheet metal had some sort of issue I sure wouldn’t go to the dealer over this. Remove those clips in the metal and put them back in the fender and push that sucker back on. If any of those clips are broken take one to the auto store and find another that will work in its place. Many of the panel clips designed for other cars can be swapped in place of the broken ones with a little creative thinking. If you can’t find one then Go to the parts counter at the dealer and purchase a few (if they are available).

Regardless unless something is broken or damaged that I needed to have a professional repair I wouldn’t waste my own time messing with the dealer for something as simple as this. Besides it may very well pop out again so you need to be able to fix it in the future.

I got home after offroading yesterday and noticed my fender flare was hanging on by only one of the plastic bolts and the tire had worn away a portion of the flare which explains the burning smell I was getting periodically with the top down. I'm not sure how this could have happened. I did rub up against some branches on that side at one point but that was after I went to lunch and I definitely smelled some burning on the way to lunch. I don't get it.

Anyway, is this an easy fix or better take it to the dealer?

They covered mine under warranty. My right rear fender wasn't as severe as that and they ordered and replaced it no questions asked

Well, that's good to hear. Perhaps, I will have them take a look at mine after all.
