Favorite exterior Jeep cleaning products?

- Surface protection (wax, ceramic, hybrid, other)
- Tire/Wheel Cleaner?
- Soft top Cleaner?
- Soft Top Protectant?
- Detail Spray?
- Quick Wax/Ceramic?
- Finally, what’s your favorite Jeep cleaning hack?

The weather finally hit a balmy 48 degrees here yesterday, so I turned the water back on and gave my Jeep a thorough and proper cleaning (I only hand wash my Jeep so winter cleaning usually just entails keeping the salt off.)

I looked at my supplies and realized I have quite the eclectic cleaning supply collection, which made me curious as to what everyone else is using since I am running low on product.

This is what I have been using:
- Griot's Garage Car Wash
- Dealer applied Ceramic Coating

- Adams Tire and Wheel cleaner
- 303 Soft Top Cleaner
- Bestop Soft-Top Protectant

- Adam's Graphene Boost (Just purchased, haven’t used yet)
- Adam’s Graphene Detail Spray (Just purchased, haven’t used yet)

Jeep cleaning hack:
I recently read that putting wax over a ceramic coating actually inhibits the coatings ability to protect the paint and draws in dirt and grime. So I have taken waxing the Jeep out of my cleaning process and recently purchased some ceramic boosters to use instead.
True... never wax over your Ceramic coating. Let the Ceramic coating do its job. You will like your Adam's Graphene Boost... but use it sparingly because it can also get a build up over time if you use it as a "cleaner" wipe over dirt. Adam's Detail Spray is good for all the time.

Going to have to check out turtle wax, second and third time it’s popped up.

Otherwise, appreciate all the good tips from both of you!
Turtle Wax is old and antiquated. It will cause buildup and will trap the small particles of dirt in that buildup.

Keeping you Jeep clean is important. I use absolutely nothing but Adam's products. When you mix different chemicals from different dealers you never really know what chemicals you are putting on your Jeep. So find one chemical dealer you like and stick with that. Having detailing cars for over 40 years one learns a lot. Making sure you prep your paint surface... clay bar, compound it if needed, polish, then wax... all before you Ceramic Coat it will lead to about zero maintenance for a least a year. This is my 2024 Rubicon X 4Xe , over 12,500 miles that I run through the Arizona desert, all kinds of weather, and it is not a mall crawler. I have washed it once in 3 months... all the rest of the time it is a quick wipe down. Cheap stuff will give you cheap results.

Damn, that is quite the set up. I have been a lot more diligent about the care of my Jeep than with past vehicles. Before I just did the standard wash and wax.

Started reading up on how detailers actually say you should care for your paint and never realized how much actually went into it. I watched a recent video on someone restoring a barn find f-150 and it opened my eyes to how much didn’t know.

Yep... I can pretty much take any vehicle you have and with enough time give it back its showroom look. Takes a lot of time... but it is satisfying. Those Adam's chemicals... are just a few of them :) I found the best way to maintain any vehicle is with a great pressure washer and a great foam cannon.

Great thread ! adding a couple of my fav's for routines I didn't see mentioned:
- P&S Brake Buster for wheels and brake dust with a long handle brush to reach inside those rims
- Shine Supply clutch for wheel wells and liners to keep them slick and easy to clean (useless on anything other than black tho...)
- P&S Bug Off cause that wind-be-damned design attracts a lot of insects ?
- dreadnought drying towel. hands down my favorite piece of kit

I like putting a dab of car wash soap on the brush of this cordless scrubber for the tires.

I don’t always take the tires off to scrub them, but an example here:

An alternative here:

How necessary is it to paint correct on a new vehicle? I think I’d like to give the graphene ceramic coating a try when the weather improves. I just picked up my JL in Dec. I was thinking clay bar and ceramic. The black paint does have me a little apprehensive, shows everything. I’ll upload some pics tomorrow.

I would 100% wash and then clay bar. I use Adam's Detail Spray in-conjunction with clay bar but also if you are going to Ceramic Coat it with the good stuff.... wipe it down before you Ceramic Coat it with Adam's Coating Prep. I know it may sound expensive at first, but go with Graphene Coating Advanced that has an ultraviolet light that will help you avoid missing any spots or areas. Prep is 98% and doing the coating should not take more than 30 - 40 minutes for an entire car.
I just finished a car about 3 hours ago. Paint prep was a bit over 4 hours because it was a relatively new car. Ceramic coating from start to out the door (leave time for it to cure) was just over an hour. I was paid $1,600. It's not the time... it's the knowledge.

Jumping in on this older post because I’ve been trying a few new things this season. I’ve had great luck with a rinseless wash followed by a spray ceramic; super quick on cooler days. For tires, I switched to a gel dressing that doesn’t sling at all. Anyone tried a good soft-top protectorate lately? I’m looking for something that holds up better in winter sun.
@darrylrose

About the Soft Top / Bestop Sunrider treatment:

Two different Bestop reps ... that have been with Bestop for many years, when I talked to them.... both recommended this 303 product for cleaning the Bestop Sunrider for Hardtop (or a fabric soft top) over the Bestop offering.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0185PU376/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They both, also recommended I periodically treat my SR (or a soft top) with this 303 product:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JG3OHVK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I did take their advice! .... and use both products.

303 Fabric Guard holds up well in the Florida Sun....

In regard to the 303 Fabric Guard:
NO, you do not wipe it on the Sunrider. Read the directions on the bottle. Don't saturate as multiple light coats are best.

Supposedly, it is best applied in the full Sun and with outside temperature of 70 degrees or higher.
You need to let the fabric guard dry for 12-24 hrs.

Careful ... Do cover all surrounding areas as the over spray of the product will be difficult to remove from paint, window glass, plastics, etc.
