Yep, DONE. The search continues:headbang:
Your USAA rate of 3.04% is about .05% better then most rates now. 2020 models are literally right around the corner. Don't know if you need a vehicle to drive right away or not? If not, order a brand new 2020 exactly the way you want it equipped. With affiliated and military, 7% is doable but might take a little work depending on region. 5%-6% should be very doable with Tread Lightly, or other affiliate and your military. Just make sure they don't require any other products or add in unreasonable fees. A reasonable DOC fee plus TTL is all you should pay.

Jeep allows dealers to advertise prices with every imaginable rebate applied and apparently some that don't exist. That's why you see so many people saying "I don't know what you're talking about, my local dealer is selling wranglers at 10% off MSRP" because they are just looking at the dealer's website and assuming they can buy the Jeep for that price. (they can't)

The only way to buy is to go through a dealer that someone has referenced on here - and even then, you typically have to go through the ONE GUY who is authorized to give these deals.

While it is nice to think that there is some legal way to force dealers to actually sell something for the price they have it listed at, it's more practical to vote with your wallet and support the guys who aren't trying to screw everyone over. I bought my Ram from Koons in VA and will likely buy a Wrangler from them as well. My house is walking distance from my local Jeep/Ram dealer, and I drove my Ram home 1000 miles from Koons.

Bunky,
Because of the reviews on this forum is one of the reasons I went to Peterson (plus they are about 10 minutes from my house), but was so disappointed when they started the finance game. They advertise the Jeep at a certain price; I'm good with that, and ready to buy at that price, but then they don't apply the rebate correctly (even if it is a small amount), and tell me I have get financing through them to get that price. I was ready to pay cash as well, and they told me tha
t price doesn't apply for a cash purchase..........they have to jack up the price $2,500 WHAT? Very deceptive.
Yes I agree that is deceptive and I would probably have trouble moving forward with this dealer. My case is a little different where I have to decide if the increased finance cost still justifies ordering with this dealer. If I figure worst case rate is 10% through them, and if I assume the best I could possibly find locally is around 3.5%, that's a delta of about 6.5%. 6.5% of $40K for 6 months is about $1,300. By the time I add cost to have the vehicle shipped to Phoenix (don't think I want to drive 14 hours), I probably have eaten up all my savings?

I wonder if 10% is standard for previous Peterson's customers?

I will be using miles to fly up so no cost there. As a future new Wrangler owner I do appreciate all the information I have gleaned from this forum. The finance department of every dealer, aside from CarMax, has been a PITA for all the vehicles I have purchased.

The issue is that based on various feed back about the dealers in ID and some more local (150 miles) they either offer less discount and mandate some accessory purchases or higher discount and then you deal with the finance person. Even worst case it is a significant discount compared to my local dealers. The other issue is if you want the vehicle your way you are almost forced to order. I have excellent credit and will fight any exorbitant rates over what FCA would give someone with my credit score. I am really looking forward to driving back over three days with my wife through Idaho and Utah back to Arizona. I am expecting the Jeep to be delivered to the dealer near the end of June as a present for my 50th.

Take the Jeep at that price with their crappy financing. Go straight home and refinance with the lender of your choice or pay it in full if that’s what you want to do. Two can play that game.
I did the same thing. Got the price then went to finance and the price changed for cash. I even told them I'd just write a check for it and asked why I had to go to finance. I took the deal and just paid it off. They still got me though. I couldn't pay it off until it was in their system. I got hit with 15 days of interest at 4.5ish% and a $50 financing fee. They advertised around 3% but somehow that wasn't available to me with an 800+ FICO and no credit dings. Still saved $2,200+ off the cash price. It looks like $2,500 is their go to add on price for cash. Found out later that the dealer just up the road where you bought yours doesn't play that game and would have done a dealer trade for the Jeep I wanted.

Hey Chocolate,
I'm with you and that's what I was going to do, but he made it very clear I was committed for at least 6 payments. I didn't get far enough to read the "fine print" and I was fairly pissed by that point. So I walked. I called them out on the bait and switch; nothing but crickets so far. I don't think they really care; they'll undoubtedly find someone who doesn't mind paying the finance charge. But one thing is clear: they are NOT selling a Jeep for under invoice, they get their money back through the finance scheme.

Yeah I've read in another post where all that was really required was to keep the account open for 6 months, so this person paid it down to like $5 right away and then paid if off completely in 6 months. But still....seems like a pain to refinance and I don't have the luxury to just pay it off in full with cash :)

I get it, the dealer has to make money to stay in business, but let's be honest................ please. They should not be allowed to advertise a "Sale Price" when it's really not the sale price. Kevin, if you're referring to Dennis Dillon, then that's good to hear. On their webpage they are very clear that they take off $1000 if one uses Chrysler financing, and their "guarantee price" is just that.........guaranteed. I guess the price goes up $1000 if you use your own bank. They just didn't have the Jeep I was looking for. I will check them out soon. Thanks.

I used Superior Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Conroe Arkansas. I think the ladies name was Kim, but she gave me my 2018 JLUR for $47,000 down from $55,000 and gave me top dollar on my trade in that some local dealers would not match. She also allowed me to pay cash for the difference. No financing involved whatsoever. So hassles. I drove about 400 miles to pick it up and was in and out within an hour! She knew I had a 16 hour day going for the total transaction.
Everything was handled through email and I ask for no extras on the sale or even a nameplate being installed!

I do recommend them if you are interested, but you need to enquire through internet sales to get the better deals!

That’s another salesman lie. If you keep their financing for at least 6 months, then they get paid from the finance company. So they lie and tell you that you have to, that you’re unable to refinance before that time, or whatever creative fiction they think they can get you to believe. The truth is, you can walk out as soon as the deal is done and pay it off in full or refinance wherever you like. But if you do, they don’t make their money on the finance deal. So they just tell you that you can’t do that.

These people are scumbags. They’re playing deceptive games because the majority of people who fall for their come on and actually come into the dealership to buy at their false price end up buying because they’ve traveled their and have their heart set on a Jeep.

I like your statement about Carmax. The only time I've bought a vehicle and not felt sleezy about the deal. Their rates came straight from the finance companies.

In the Chicago area a few dealers advertised sales prices 15%-17% below MSRP on a 2018 Sahara. I started at the dealers with
lower 10%-12% discounts. A couple told me that they advertise the real sales price and would not negotiate below it. They also told me
that dealers with larger discounts include all available rebates (disability, military, etc.) in the sales price and tell you which ones you don't
qualify for when you start to talk price. I found this to be true. The Internet price they advertise is not the real sales price. The last dealer
I went to was advertising 17% below MSRP. This was the largest discount in the area. When we started to talk price the sale person was
bragging about how they offer the best sales price in the area. Then he pulls out a flyer that has four items (door edge guard, wheel locks, flashing brake light, and one other I don't remember) with prices on it totaling $2500. He says they can offer the low sales price because they provide these
great extras. He never came out and said the $2500 will be added to the price. So I make a low ball offer and he comes back with their price
sheet that has the extra $2500 as a line item.

Then the negotiating began, I stood up and started to walk twice. The end result was 14.5% below the MSRP. After talking to six dealers, that
was probably the best I was going to do. So I bought it and have no regrets. I did finance even tho I could have paid cash. Financing helped the negotiation. The finance manager asked me not to pay off the load for four months so they get their cut. Screw them, I think I'll pay it of the first payment.

Anyone in Illinois should consider Jason Beltran at Tyson Motors. They do huge volume. No one in the tri-state area would beat their deal. I buy a lot of cars. I have only run into a few dealers and sales people that are totally honest and transparent. They are far and few in-between. Tyson and Jason are one of those dealers. I can't recommend Jason enough. Truly a NO BS straight shooter. I emailed him my build and he got back to me in a few hours with his rock bottom price out the door. I called him with a $100 deposit and he placed my order. 14 days later my JLR was at the dealership ready for delivery. I was in and out after about 1.5 hours. A hour was spent waiting for the business manager to free up after doing someone else's deal. I ended up paying exactly what Jason said I would pay. It was as easy as ordering a pizza.

Kind of $hitty.. but, that is how some stealer-ships roll. Over the past 12 or so years my wife and i have mostly dealt with ā€˜luxury’ brands. I wanted a wrangler, she wanted a wrangler and we rolled the dice. Bull$hit aside, we went to 4 Jeep dealers between Denver and co springs and every time we walked out saying ā€˜these $hitbags...’ anyway, moral of the story, Jeep sales people (all of the ones we have dealt with) are what supports the shady, greasy, etc. car sales people. But i wanted a wranger so we tolerated the garbage, shady, @ss, bull$hit and drove off w a wrangler.
To your story, questions, anytime they advertise and have a * or any ā€˜see details’ they are leaving the door wide open for if/then/requirements. As advertised and total transparency that is a good deal, the * is where they require you to apply lubricant..
Personally, i would copy/paste that deal and email it out to every Jeep dealer within 500 miles and say if you can match this (not all the * $hit, just the #s) i will buy today. Also, don’t reply if you cannot, i will just send your email to my junk folder. For the love of any God don’t give them your phone # until you have an email commitment and i bet you find a few dealerships that will give you that deal without you having to put up with childish $hit.
