No offense but you cannot judge the sound system with terrestrial radio or Sirius, Sirius is super compressed and not a quality sound source.
Right, that was previously discussed.

Did you not read my edit that I added on the 9th of May?

Go back and see what the edited part says because it sounds like you stopped reading before the end.

You left that whole part out of your quoted response.

And to be honest, I had the Sirius system in the previous vehicle and while I do like the upgraded system more, I don't find it anything "outstanding" as far as "audiophile" level systems go whether it be my I-Tunes or any other source.

It is certainly good enough for a Wrangler but Alpine and Bose are not high end audio, and $1500 is a bit much for an adequate system. In a vehicle like this, it should be standard in the higher trim levels.

I'm glad I got ours for $124.

Unless you're adding an amp I think the 6x9 would be underwhelming. You currently have 4x25 watts running the soundbar speakers that are 2 ohm(if you have the alone system). Most 6x9s aren't wired for dual sources, so you'd be cutting that down to 2x25 watts. But you also won't likely find 2ohm 6x9s. Put a standard 4 ohm speaker in there and you cut the power output in half. Now you've got 2 6x9s that really need more power than the factory 100 watts total being driven at 2x12.5 watts. I haven't swapped any speakers out in the JL or JT yet as the Alpine is OK, but if I do it would likely be just the 3.5" drivers in the dash and soundbar and I'd make sure to use 3 ohm at most. Infinity and JBL both make 3 ohm 3.5" speakers.
It is not a direct relationship between speaker ohms and power output, replacing a 2 ohm speaker with a 4 ohm speaker does not cut the power output in half. The formula for power is power = volts x amps and replacing volts with amps x ohm changes the formula to power = amps x amps x ohms. Doubling or halfing the ohms doesn't directly double or half the power, but it does affect the amount of amps needed to produce the same power.

Higher ohm speakers might not be as loud at a given volume setting depending the characteristic of the speaker, but the issue is usually when you install lower ohm speakers because then more amps are needed to produce the same power and if you are running at full volume, the additional amps can over heat the radio/amp outputs.

Sort of correct, but the amplifiers power is current limiting. Therefore in the I²R calculation the I² doesn't change and the R is directly proportional. If you look at the output ratings on amplifiers the bridged power is generally 2x the stereo output and 2ohm rated amps are rated at 2x the 4 ohm rms rating. In the amplifier world, the 4ohm output is half the 2 ohm output and there are thousands of amplifier spec sheets out there to support that fact. If the factory amp puts out 25 watts at 2ohm it will put out 12.5 watts...or less at 4 ohms.If you look at cheaper amps you'll see less than the 2x output, but you won't see more.

Gah...if the alpine is an upgrade, I'd hate to hear 'stock'. THE most underwhelming system I have ever had in a vehicle...ever. I'm more or less convinced my kid's JBL Bluetooth carry speaker sounds better.

I may try replacing the dash first followed by the knee - though the effort involved for the knee replacement is overly complex.

Do the Alpine if it's the right vehicle and price. Way easier than trying to upgrade on a new vehicle. 21 JLUR and I think it sounds good. Definitely has some bass. And I usually put a sub in my vehicle but this one is great.
