The Jeep wave is an honor and a show of respect for those of us who have committed to the jeep life. Every time I pass a law enforcement vehicle, I have the urge to give them the jeep wave. Obviously I don’t. However it made me think that maybe they deserve the respect of the jeep community for all they do, for what they represent, and how important the thin blue line is to the jeep community. What do you guys think?

I think that's a damn good idea Tunderhill. Sometimes it's the little things in life, that turn out to be not so little. It doesn't cost you anything to wave.

Nope.

There’s good cops and bad cops just like any profession. The wave isn’t about inclusivity…

I ride a motorcycle too…the wave has a different meaning in that culture…some people don’t know why…

I like the exclusivity of jeep and bike. Nothing for or against LEO…in fact I helped get one of my best friends who’s LEO into a gladiator…but…it’s a Jeep thing.

I recently got dinged for 5 over on a rural two-lane with no traffic. Mature-growth corn on both sides of the road. As I sat there silently, the LEO dressed me down as though I had committed a significantly worse infraction. The fine itself was just $35, but with all of the usurious fees that PA layers on (e.g., "Judicial Computer Project"), I had to write a check for two C-notes.

Bad timing, old boy...and anyway, they're not driving Jeeps to begin with.

Funny, Payson Az, side road, came around corner not watching my speed, 50mph, in a 35, cop right there, i slammed the brakes on and parked across the street from him, we both rolled our windows down, I said "john denver song". He smiled and waved me on.

Read a local news article a few weeks ago about some lady getting pulled over for doing 51 on a 45 MPH section of a large 4-lane highway that's 99% posted at 55 MPH and was thinking, "okay, this is probably why a lot of folks don't like cops".

Turns out she was intoxicated and led them on a high-speed pursuit, so I guess it was a good call, though you'd think they could've said they stopped her for swerving or something more egregious.

I'll smile and give a nod when I'm driving and see an officer, but that's mostly just hoping my courteous charm will distract them from the fact I'm probably doing 5 over or 5 under the limit. I drive safely and keep my eyes on the road looking for crazy critters and what other drivers are doing, which is far more important than constantly staring at my speedometer.

Well. Let’s not politicize this thread like we do with other threads.

I respect LEOs but I’m not a bootlicker. Not into waving at them just like I don’t expect (or really want) strangers waving at me on my job.
Does your job lend itself to being waved at a lot?!

Drive under the speed limit+nervous wave+forced smile=kilo of coke in trunk 🤓
Caught me again officer, now where's the wild women at? 😳

And tbf, when I see a cruiser parked and looking for speeders where it drops from 55 to 45, I'll instantly get to a steady 46 without using the brakes. I'm sure that's suspicious as well, but whatev.

Honestly felt kinda bad the last time I got pulled over several years ago. Let my stupid state inspection lapse, which is usually just a no-cost fix-it ticket, but he had to waste a good 20 minutes running my ID, running my CCW permit, checking my declared carry with the state's database that isn't supposed to exist. Maybe it was just something to pass the time, but I know dang well there were probably a dozen junkies driving by us at any given minute. Was a really nice dude, though.

🤷‍♂️
