When the time (Jeep) comes my first mod will be to disable the ESS - period.

I don’t like it at all! We have the same thing on our Honda Pilot and usually if I don’t turn it off when I get in the vehicle I do the first time it cuts the engine off. I disabled it on my JL using the Tazer. After that’s set up you never have to worry about it again.

Well, you probably have to "worry about it" each time you take your vehicle to the dealership for service to keep them from just automatically blaming any problem you have on it.

Not really! I’ve had it back to the dealership one for a recall. All I did was unmarry it from the Jeep, which returns it to stock. When I picked it up I reinstalled the Tazer.

Yeah, that was what I was talking about when I put "worry about it" in quotes...

Did some testing with my Auto. If you pull up to a stop on a hill or where you need to be confident you can zip out into traffic quickly. Once you stop, keep your foot on the brake as in on a hill, and tap the ESS button and it restarts. If you're on level pavement, release brake and press again and it starts and stays running.

I don’t mind it at all. If I know it’s gonna be a short break I just leave the clutch in and put it in neutral. If I know it’s gonna be a while I clutch out while in neutral and ESS kicks in. You’re correct it’s up to you when you want to utilize it.

F'n Obama regulation. Have to make another whole battery for the Jeep. Whatever small amount of gas savings and emissions reduction you get is wiped out with the byproducts producing extra parts, replacing parts more often and having to make and dispose of another additional battery. Stupid thinking all the way around. It's like the study done comparing the Prius to the Hummer. The Prius has a much worse ecological footprint all to save a little gas and emissions. Idiots.
