Epic fail! Didnt get AUX tow group - solutions?

Hello, i just realized that i miserably failed.. forgot to order the AUX/Tow package on my build and car just got here. I think i missed it during rush order process as I saw TOW and figured i can get that later but missed AUX part which i was really looking forward to and was under impression entire time that it was part of my order!

I wanted to see if anyone knows if the car has the 7 and 4 pin harnes where one can buy OEM AUX switch panel and install it, and upgrade to 700 amp battery.. reason i ask some MFR's include the wiring in there anyway in event upgrades are done later but perhaps its not there.. if its not there i wonder if that harness could be added or better to just go aftermarket like RC MCL-6 or equivalent? I was really hoping for clean factory AUX switchbox.. darn it soo upset!

If you shop around you can purchase the mopar aux switch kit for a decent price. Comes with everything you need. I’m on my second JL and didn’t have the tow package as a factory option in either.

I went with an S-Tech systems kit in my first JL and it was a great kit. Fairly straightforward install and had switch options specifically designed for the JL.

However, I went with the factory kit the second time around. The ability to configure the switches as momentary/latching and ignition/battery on the fly is a cool perk. The factory system also gives you a more direct tie into the JL’s on board battery management tech. The trade off is that the factory kit is a tad more involved to install. But over all it’s not too bad if you have some experience de-pining and reassembling electrical connectors.

I think I got the Mopar kit from Northridge. If you go the mopar route be sure to by the kit that matches your specific interior trim. They come in black and chrome.

Edit: Your build may have a few parts and pieces of the harness for this already on board, but it’s likely incomplete and not fully tied in. To my knowledge you’ll still need the full mopar kit. I wouldn’t think anything specifically about the 4Xe application would change this- but I could be wrong. Disregard everything above if someone has experience that suggests otherwise.

Yeah you fucked up.

The trailer group also gets you a bigger battery and a bigger alternator. Towing Suspension is also heavier duty (stiffer).

I didnt get it either an tow with my Jeep. The Mopar 7pin harness is something you can add "later" technically. It is a very time consuming job. I did it on my driveway and it took me about 6hrs or more.

For $1000 the oem tow package is a good deal.

The Aux install is pretty intense. Like....there are a lot of posts on people wondering why their electrical system is not working after trying to install it....or not starting, etc.

I called around and found a former Jeep/FCA auto electrician at a auto service shop and he did it for me flawlessly, but it took him about 7 hours.

If you are great at this stuff do it. If you haven't done this stuff before...might be worth calling around a bit and finding someone who installs these frequently.

The Aux wiring group is awesome. Tons of capability, far more than just available wires under the hood.

no doubt its a fail, hence what i titled the thread. I rushed through the build sheet and didn't read into AUX part and just figured its a hitch and few other misc items that can be gotten later.

I dont plant to tow anyway so this was more for convenience of wiring LED's and having it all OEM integrated instead of adding aftermarket solutions.. its good to know that there is Mopar AUX kit so i'll research that and throw it in..

yes plan is to get someone who has done this to install it to make sure there is no issues.. not sure if dealers will do it but there are some great local shops around here that specialize in jeeps only so i may give those a shot as well.

I decided to go outside the FCA service for the install after reading multiple nightmare posts on what happened at the dealership. I don't know why I don't trust them vs. some shop actually, but maybe your local FCA service is better than mine. Good luck!

found it.. but there are several version.. silver, chrome, black..

looking at mine to me that looks like shiny silver plastic.. but the one on amazon shows chrome and has diff part number.. the mopar link part # 82215798AE supersedes all other part numbers.. what do you guys think?

Where can I find the specs for the stiffer suspension? I tow a Moby-1 trailer and the back end sags, I balanced the tongue weight and ended up installing Lift bags on the rear to adjust, I have the Willys 3.0 diesel.

I bet you are better with your lift bags than with the stock "HD towing suspension".

I have a towing suspension from a 2 door rubicon on my sport and my Jeep wont sag at all as long as I keep the tongue rating within specs.

Either way. You'd have to find a Diesel Jeep with the same configuration as yours PLUS towing package, then look at the spring numbers. Not worth it imo. How heavy is your trailer's tongue?

That’s the one I was looking at when I screwed up the same way. However, I ended up just cancelling and reordering with the tow octave and steel bumpers added instead….
