Enough with the Radio issues!!!

there’s nothing better then shutting your over priced Jeep off, only to have to lift the hood and remove the fuse because your radio is frozen and won’t shut off..or not having the radio work at all, or not having the back up cam work, or not having the radio turn on or having the radio cut in and out the whole drive, or not have the navigation work... yes I’ve dealt with all the above and more, and yes brought it into the dealership with no fix.... such a great way to meet up with some friends by having them wait for you so you can lift the hood to pull fuses so you can park your Jeep... and simply do what we all seem to do.. somehow still manage to justify owning a JL ..... ‍ @JeepCares

The trick, I believe, is to not shift into gear until the system is fully booted. A quick takeoff seemed to cause these issues for me. Annoying...

Thanks for the info...I figured that with the start up.... just can’t figure when shutting it off sometimes..

I love when you turn off the vehicle and on are the phone, you open the door and the radio won’t shut off even though you’re now talking through the handset.

Ha!!! That’s what literally what just happened

I've found most of the issues are software related and you just need to reboot the system. I've experienced sound only in rear speakers. Volume much lower than normal. Mine normally at about 15 on the volume is pretty loud and it may require me to turn it up to 30 to get the same volume if it's glitching. I've had the screen blank out. I've had it have no volume. Every single time, all I have to do is user my Tazer to reboot the system. Takes about 60 seconds and then everything is back to normal. Yet another reason the Tazer is worth it.

My particular symptoms - had the JL for 7 weeks, has 8.4 UConnect.

1) once it locked up outright
2) twice beeped every few seconds (the beep sound was the loud sound of the backup sensor detecting something).
3) once beeped continuously - making the loud beep sound of the backup sensor continuously.

Pulling Fuse F97 each time for several seconds does resolve the issues for a period of days.

Overall I am very happy with the speed of the processor in the unit -- changes screens/functions/nav basically instantly, which is awesome.

Mine sometimes sounds like the Emergency Broadcasting System. You can turn off the engine, turn it back on and sometimes that will fix it and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the lower part of the touch screen doesn't work. Go figure

Neither the NAV or the offroad pages go back to where they were when i shut off and restart. Its 2019. Get with the program.

mine switches audio input with every phone call or gps direction from phone, ie it switched from usb to Radio... its insane

We need some sw updates, its been a year and uconnect still has nothing. I got simplest stereo to have less issues, but its got some pretty annoying ones.

Unlock your iPhone before getting into your rig. Doesn’t matter if it is plugged into usb or not, Bluetooth connectivity causes the same problems. Try it. I’ve had no problems since using this routine.

I don’t use Android so folks with lock screen experiences chime in...
