Do you have a link to were you purchased the block heater for your JLUR? I can’t seem to find one
I got mine from a dealer, but I also ordered this one for our v6 GC in 2016:
https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Jeep...ock+heater&dpPl=1&dpID=21Vmd9kp1rL&ref=plSrch

I’m not going to say that’s the one, but it looks exactly like that. If I were you, I’d just get one from the parts department. They should be able to tell you what fits. I’m sure you could also go on Mopar, but I usually try Amazon first.

@hozuki

You aren't thinking that the install of a block heater on a JL , is lets say, easy peasy are you? If so think again. Doable, but not a simple plug and play thing.
Definitely not easy. For some reason it was easier than my GC, but still required quite a bit of disassembly and time. It’s a little unnerving how much you have to remove given it’s a new vehicle, but if you stick to the directions, you can get through it if you have a reasonable amount of mechanical skill. Not for the faint of heart, though, and if you’re prone to frustration or you get lost easily, I’d take it somewhere. After a point, it’s no longer drivable. Good luck!

A guy/gal can get into lets say deep shit doing this install. Very easy to get in the middle of the install and ..... oh chitt... And end up having to pay a flat bed to haul it to a shop / dealer that can do it.

I have done such an install a few years back. No, I did not run into trouble.

On a JL, especially, most guys/gals are better off paying to have the dealership or a shop do. Those places are equipped if something goes a muck.

Also, If OEM part is used and Jeep dealer does the install, you can have it added to the JL's warranty, I do believe... think..

I don't live or frequent the super cold places any more. But I lived in NE Montana in the early 60s. Virtually every vehicle had a block heater to prevent cracking the block from freezing coolant. Some people went so far as to remove their battery and put it in the house during really cold spells. Today, there are battery heaters, trans and engine oil pan heaters, diff heaters, etc.. I'm determined to never need such things.

I ordered a JL and got the block heater option. Figured living in Chicago it can't hurt to have it and at some point I'd like to overland through Canada and Alaska. I'll probably route the wire to a male plug installed in a front stubby bumper so I can just use a standard extension cord.

Actually it's jeeps new electric vehicle.
You just need one hell of a long extension cord to make it operational.

Seriously, it is a benifit IF you live in an area that experiences extreme cold temperatures, your call. Works for me.

When you order your vehicle with the block heater, is it installed during the manufacturing process? Or do they install it after assembly like they do other add-on accessories like the tailgate reinforcement?

So let me get this straight. When I get home I would have to pop the hood, unravel the cord and plug it into a timed outlet. Then in the morning unplug it, rewrap the extension cord under the hood, close the hood and start the vehicle right?

Sounds like waAAy to much work for me...forgive my lack of knowledge but I thought maybe the whole engine block heater thing worked much differently than that. I could see living in Antarctica but it hardly gets THAT cold in the states where this would be of any benefit. Maybe I'm missing something on the benefit to having one.
I lived 4 years in northern MN and it was a godsend.

Someone had the question as to how warm the oil got.
I'm in the north-woods of Wisconsin, and last night I plugged it in, checked this morning....
Last night it got down to 3*, turned on the Wrangler this morning and checked the oil temperature, it read 85*. After driving and the jeep got warmed up it read 195*

So I hope this answers someones question out there
