Yup, just cancelled my reservation and plan on buying out my lease on the 4xe. I don’t see me buying another new Ford ever again. Not delivering to reservation holders and delivering to dealers who all marked them up $10k and then taking away the main appeal of the Bronco, the Sasquatch pkg. I am out! Plus the Jeep is better in almost every way.

Got my email today. Threatening to cancel orders if you don’t order a vehicle you don’t want.

Dear Bronco Customer,

Although we are doing everything we can to continue manufacturing Ford Bronco® SUVs exactly as ordered, global supply chain shortages and unprecedented demand have impacted our ability to produce your Bronco.

To give your Bronco the best chance at being produced in the 2023 model year, contact your dealer and update your order to a buildable configuration as soon as possible. Please note that taking no action puts you at risk of not receiving your Bronco.

To thank you for your patience, you will be eligible for the 23MY Bronco Order Modification Private Offer Program. You will receive $2,500 toward the purchase or lease of your Bronco if:

  • Your order is a Wildtrak series and you change to a Big Bend, Outer Banks, or Badlands series without a Molded-In Color Hardtop, Sasquatch Package, or Lux Package*
  • Your order has any of these options—Molded-In Color Hardtop, Sasquatch Package, or Lux Package—and you remove all of them from your current vehicle order

Alternatively, you can also receive the $2,500 incentive (exclusions apply**) if you cancel your Bronco order and purchase or lease an in-stock 2022/2023 Ford or order a 2023 Ford vehicle for purchase or lease.

You also have the option to cancel your order and have your deposit refunded.

You have until March 7th to change your order and be eligible for the 23MY Bronco Order Modification Private Offer Program. However, the sooner you make the change, the better chance you will have for it to be scheduled in 2023.

What Happens if You Don’t Take One of These Actions?

If you take no action and leave your order as is, and your Bronco cannot be delivered as a 2023 model year, your order will be canceled. You will then need to place a 2024 model year order at the 2024 model year pricing.

For additional information and details, visit our FAQs.

We appreciate your business and patience and will continue to do everything we can to get you behind the wheel of your new Bronco.

-The Bronco Team

I finally canceled my Bronco order sometime in the fall of last year when it was time to re-up for the 2023 model year. I was one of the many that had reservations placed in 2020 that still had not been built yet. Looks like these options that they're paying people to remove were on my "must haves" list so there's no chance that I'd get built in '23 either and I'm not starting over again with a new order. Oh well, it used to suck a bit when I did see the occasional new Bronco on the roads but that has faded quick. The only thing from the Bronco that I wish my Jeep had is a 6 banger in that mid 300 HP and 400 lb/ft range for the 2dr.

Don’t forget Wranglers weigh anywhere between 500-800 lbs less than a comparable Bronco.

Besides, if you use your Jeep the way Wranglers are meant to be used, you won’t even care that it has an engine that produces 280 HP.

Yeah that’s F’d up. I would be dropping my order so fast, and never as much as look at a Ford ever again.

I can understand supply constraints and quality control issues making it hard to produce the vehicle effectively. But to threaten folks with order cancellation and loss of price protection if they don’t agree to buy something other than what they ordered; that’s crooked to a whole new level.

Makes Jeep customer service look world class in comparison.

Fords fiasco definitely sold me my Wrangler. I never wanted a Jeep prior to the Bronco reveal. Watching that imaginary, non-existent Bronco hi-speed driving through the desert in the reveal video lit my imagination and I found I really wanted that open air experience. It really seemed like the Bronco might come within 90% of the capability of a Wrangler.

Then as the production issues started manifesting, hard tops started delaminating, steering racks started breaking when people looked at them wrong, it became obvious that the Bronco is a pile of shit in a pretty shell. That coupled with Fords arrogant attitude towards rightfully upset customers and I was done.

But I still wanted a capable 4x4 and craved that open air experience. So here I am. Do I enjoy my Wrangler? Yes. Do I love it? Eh, maybe I'll get there eventually. But it is hands down the most capable off roader available right now.

Hilarious. "Though shalt take the shit we shovel, not what you want." Brilliant marketing, Ford.
Wasn't the XR package removed from some models of wrangler at one point?

oh yeah......

All buyers of all products are subject to the demands of all manufacturers. The choice is do as they say, or don't buy.

Unless I've missed something, Jeep has managed its constraints by limiting the ability order them, so XR has become unavailable to order for periods of time.

Ford put itself in this mess by taking (pulling a number out of the air) 100,000 more orders than they could ever hope to build, with features that then became very difficult to source, or had serious QA issues. Then they scrambled for 2 years with little, to no, communication to the customer about the reality of their fuck up. This is the culmination of that.

And even with this latest FU from them, I doubt they can build the entire backlog of buildable orders. Notice, they have not guaranteed removing those constraints will get you a MY23 build. Just that not removing will make it very difficult for it to be built. I'm betting the other shoe will drop later this year when thousands of orders, that do exactly what Ford wants here, still won't have been built and there'll be another uproar.

Honda is even worse. Last year I approached my Honda dealer about the new Civic Hatchback 6-speed, which Youtube has been raving about for months.

But then the dealer tells me "Nah. You can only get it in automatic; and you can have it in black, white or silver. That is all Honda is building for the next several months."

Pfft... Buh-bye Honda....

letting you order then canceling it is slightly better than just removing the option for a period of time.

Slightly

Ford is all jacked up with their wait times for sure.

But there is no doubt that they are selling bronco's as fast as they can make them. Good for them.

The supply mess is becoming better.

We did, we will have a gladiator and a wrangler when Jeep finishes our Punk’n hopefully early next month. I left the order to see how long it could actually take.

I could give up a little horsepower on the top end if it had a good wad of torque on the low end which is not the 3.6L's modus operandi. You're stuck trying to overcome the lack of low end torque thru gearing. I'm a huge fan of the idea of the Wrangler eventually getting some detuned version of the new Hurricane I6.
