So you just kept twisting the gas cap as it was clicking? I know a few other people that still have that issue, so definitely worth trying.Similar on my 4R- first simple attempt at a new cap failed, pressure and fog test failed. Desperately wound the cap like I was winding a clock. Warning lights soon went out, never to return with continued winding ??![]()
It did not bend anything back, I tested a few clicks, several winds required. Whatever works ??So you just kept twisting the gas cap as it was clicking? I know a few other people that still have that issue, so definitely worth trying.
I'm kinda wondering if stuff like this is from the metal filler lip getting slightly bent, bumped or deformed by gas pump nozzles and not allowing for a proper seal of the gas cap. Twisting the cap a bunch of times might've just bent it back into shape.
Your cats have failed. with 178k miles, its no surprise.I have been battling these codes since July. Replaced two sensors but codes came back two weeks later. Have two more sensors to replace, but have until August when my registration renewal comes up. On 2008 Unlimited with 178,000 miles.![]()
I’m afraid that is the problem. I have been told by a mechanic that I would have to buy “California compliant Cat” which are just standard Cats with a CompLiant stamped on it which about doubles the cost. Not sure where the extra money goes, maybe another State tax.Your cats have failed. with 178k miles, its no surprise.
Move out of that state.I’m afraid that is the problem. I have been told by a mechanic that I would have to buy “California compliant Cat” which are just standard Cats with a CompLiant stamped on it which about doubles the cost. Not sure where the extra money goes, maybe another State tax.
I did try two new gas caps be have not tried twisting the shit out of them. ?
Yes, I had the steering gear replaced via the TSB and they pulled the battery 4 weeks before my inspection. I had two not-ready codes after those 4 weeks so it wouldn't pass. I can't recall what I had to do to resolve one but another had some crazy - immediately drive between x and y speeds for 20 minutes which isn't doable. Luckily in my state, you can pass with 1 code in the not-ready state for the year model. I think a 10 or 15yo vehicle could have 2 in the not-ready state. Last year all codes were clear at inspection so that last one cleared somehow during that time. Before throwing money at the problem. Check your owners manual and your specific state laws. Sometimes vehicles are required to pass emissions thru certain age and mileage limitations.
I had a 2021 with a evap problem. They smoked it. They tried to fix it never could find it. They said it’s a warranty issue but could take forever to fix. Have to replace a part at a time. It was time to cut tiesHey Guys,
So my 2018 JLUR MT honestly has been nothing but issues since I bought it. New transmission at 5k because of complete synchro failure, new rockers and cams, clutch failure at 40k, 4WD service lights. If I didn’t have the lifetime warranty, I would have gotten rid of it by now. So a new problem arose and I really can’t seem to get to the bottom of it and I was wondering if anybody else has this problem. I recently was up for inspection and used my code reader , the HCAT, AIR, EGR, and EVAP refuse to set after numerous drive cycles, nearly 1000 miles, I’m at my wits end and I’m going to take it to dealership once again. Has anybody experience anything similar?
