Hello, just received an emissions recall notification in the mail for my 2020 JLU 3.6l.

I have 47,000 miles on the Jeep (I know, I know…. I have this stupid second job and it requires I drive all over Hell’s Half Acre). I have performed all maintenance myself.

My question… should I remove my Tazer Mini and my Hike-It Throttle Control before I take it in for the recall work? They have to update the PCM software.

Thanks in advance.

Just don’t do the recall, what’s the object of it?

Here is what the recall states:
Your vehicle may not meet On Board Diagnostics (OBD) monitoring requirements. Under certain conditions, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software will not enable misfire detection. If the PCM does not detect engine misfire it will not set a fault code when a misfire is occurring, which may lead to difficulty diagnosing issues with the engine.

Yea that’s probably worth updating. Would be nice to know what “certain conditions” means.

I just received my notice today, 2020 JLUR. Also haven't taken mine to the dealer yet and really don't want to do it. I see it says "which may lead to difficulty diagnosing issues with the engine". I'm thinking I don't care if they have trouble diagnosing. The title of the letter makes me think it's more related to emissions "IMPORTANT EMISSIONS RECALL".

I actually got a call from the dealer I bought mine from on this before I received the letter.

I guess there has been enough people that have complained against the spark knock and they are finally doing something about it. As someone above has stated, I bet it's a new tune (whether better or worse) to accommodate the wide variables (cheap ass gas) to get it not to knock anymore.

Yeah, if they're looking to detune the 3.6 more on the low-end..... I'd totally pass on it.
Don't know about other states, but my letter says:

"The State of California requires the completion of this emission recall repair prior to vehicle registration renewal."

It goes on to state:

"In order to ensure your full protection under the emissions warranty provisions, it is recommended that you have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible. Failure to do so could be determined as lack of proper maintenance of your (vehicle or engine)."

I just took my Jeep in for a battery replacement and in looking over the work order notice they did a “Emissions recall PCM software update“
