I'm the second owner of a 2022, 2 door Rubicon with a man pedal with 8,500 miles. As a second owner the vehicle is still under warranty and I have two open recalls.

One is the clutch problem with no solution from Jeep at this point and I beat that issue to to death in another tread. The other is recall # 92A which is a gear position sensor which can affect the backup camera and/or the reverse lights. Camera works fine, reverse lights not so much. It could be the Chineseum rear bumper the previous owner installed with LED's that don't match up with the stock incandesent lighting. If so, that's a easy fix.

I'm scheduled to take it in for 92A and my bigger question is if I'm going to get tagged by the dealer and Jeep for the after market exhaust the previous owner installed, which is a cat back muffler with twin pipe outlet. I know all about the Magnuson-Moss Warrant Act of 1975 and there is no legitimate connection between the clutch recall and the gear postion sensor but that's a legal battle that little ole me can't afford to fight.

Curious what experience others have had in this regard?

Two thoughts I guess.

1. Recalls have nothing to do with warranty, so even if your jeep was flagged for denial of warranty over an aftermarket exhaust for some odd reason, it wouldn't effect the ability for you to get recall work done. The only reason I've ever heard that a dealer will outright refuse to do a recall is if there's a salvage title involved. And the legality of that is even questioned. As far as I know it's in the franchise agreement that the dealer must perform recall work period, unless it's simply not feasible for them to do so.

Edit: Anything aftermarket on the Jeep is not covered by warranty for obvious reasons... I shouldn't have to add this, but it's needed to be said in some threads here and there, so just covering bases now.

2. Exhaust has nothing to do with either recall. As far as I know, even if you had an aftermarket part directly related to the parts in question, such as an aftermarket clutch, they would still do the recall if requested to do so. They'd just remove your clutch and put the replacement unit in. And then steal and re-sell trash your aftermarket clutch.

Brother the dealer does not give a fuck about your modifications. The only time we do is if it directly makes our job harder. If you aren't having any issues with the backup camera not coming on when putting it into reverse then don't worry about the 92A until you take it in to get your clutch recall done. It's bolted to the top of the transmission and it is easier to replace once the transmission is out for the clutch recall. If anything your technician will tank you for the free 0.5 hours.

I canceled the appointment for recall 92A a result of your advice which make perfect sense. Thank you!!
