Ok. I have been doing my best to research and come up with an order for a Willys unlimited. Yesterday I almost gave a deposit after doing a build with the dealer. I decided to step away for a day and make sure all was right, because I always feel like I'm being pressured sitting at that desk.
Sooo... I'm here reading over my worksheet for the thousandth time, when I notice something. I think.
So on my phone I configured my Jeep, starting with an unlimited Willy's. The salesperson looked at my order and transferred it all onto their paperwork and came up very close to the same price, telling me the market isn't allowing for haggling, yada yada. I end up getting a few bucks off for this and that and 500 off for a first responder discount. I'm ok with that I guess in this day and age.
Now that I'm looking at my sheet from them, the top line doesn't say Unlimited Willys, it says "Wrangler unlimited sport JLJL74".
I'm thinking they are trying to sell me a Willys sport vs. a Willys. Or am I looking at this wrong ? They make the packages and options so confusing as it is, then it changes up all the codes on the dealer paperwork.
Am I wrong? If this is the case I'm basically fed up with this whole process and about to bail on ever getting this jeep :(

“The market isn’t allowing for haggling.” Really…? ? That’s a pretty good line.

If you are willing to place an order and wait for a custom build, I’d shop around if I were you. I mean, unless you have cash to burn… There are a lot of good dealers listed on this forum doing x% under invoice and other stuff. it never hurts to look around.

I had to think about that for a second.
Go to the chrysler website and build one.
On the Canadian website we have Unlimited Willy's.
There is also a sport build.

Take a deep breath and chill.

The Willys is a package based off of a Sport, not a separate model. Your package code will tell you if it has it on there. The 25W is the Willys package.

And do yourself a favor and research on here a bit. Several dealers are doing between 4-6% off of invoice which means about 10% off MSRP give or take a bit. You may have to travel but most find the discount well covers the added expense.

Your dealer should also honor the Tread Lightly program which for $100 gives you 1% under invoice. Again, research here before buying.

Pardon my ignorance with this, but how do I know if I'm getting the upgrade axles, etc that come on a Willy's? It seem alike there is a sport with an appearance package as well as an actual Willy's? Hopefully I'm being paranoid ;)

In Jeep parlance, there are only three trim levels: Sport, Sahara and Rubicon.

For internal purposes, Willys is considered a Sport customer preferred package; 80th Anniversary and High Altitude are Sahara customer preferred packages, etc. What’s more confusing is that the factory order sheet doesn’t match neither the website nor the window sticker.

As others have suggested, I’d try another dealer, known for offering discounts on factory orders.

Good luck.

Pretty sure the Willys isn’t upgraded axles unless you go Willys XR. It’s basically Rubicon shocks and MT tires along with a bunch of other stuff like badges, lights, etc.

Edit: forgot it comes with limited slip so it’s a Dana 44 rear axle. That is an “upgrade” to the running gear if you plan to off-road.

Thanks, guys. I feel better about the package now. The price, not so much. I was buying into the idea of paying MSRP, as many dealers in the northeast are actually adding 3k to MSRP as a market adjustment. So, finding a dealer not upcharging already felt like it was better than nothing.
I appreciate your patience and not bearing up this newb :)

I think what's confusing me is on the jeep site they lost a willys and a Willy's sport. Why make the names confusing like this?

Don't feel like it's ignorance- everyone doesn't know everything-it really is as simple to go to the jeep site build your jeep there-verify the specific packages especially when it says preferred. I Built my 2021 JLUR on the site and ordered- the dealer was off on what I wanted. It took three months build and delivery to another dealer, but I got what I wanted. Take your time and good luck.
