My Ecodiesel, equipped with a PedalMonster has that effortless, right off idle, whoosh of acceleration in city driving. Not quick as measured by a stopwatch, but very healthy seat-of-the-pants (which is where it counts). Whats more, it is competely drama-free which adds to the sensation. Does the 4xe's electric assist provide a similar experience?

My sister owns a 4xe and I drove it from Superior Co. to Estes Park last fall. In the electric mode it is amazingly fast on the start. I would compare it to the Banks Derringer I have on my Eco Diesel. The 4xe may be a little quicker...but it is only good for about 24 miles.

Turn off traction control, put it in 4x4 high, and a 4xe is not just seat of your pants quick, it's genuinely quick. 0-60 around 6 seconds
Yes, my wife has the 4xe and that thing is quick, Way more than my diesel.

A couple months ago, I had one as a loaner for a couple weeks, it definitely felt quicker off the line, but I still preferred the power delivery of the diesel, especially the endless torque available at high speeds. Since then my Jeep has undergone weight loss surgery and now has stage2 SOTF tune, and when running the 50 or 80hp setting, it is absolutely insane. In the 80hp mode, and traction/stability control all still fully enabled, if I allow the turbo to spool up then launch, both rear tires are leaving black marks on the pavement in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears; and this is with 37" tires.

I just test drove a 4xe and was pretty impressed. Definitely quicker than my friends diesel gladiator.

Sounds fun! I thought IL did yearly emissions testing?

In case you don’t know the NoLimitz JL
• Disables factory speed limiter
• Disables speed and torque limiters in 4L
• Disables torque management system/traction control
• Disables MDS system (392)
• Allows FULL POWER in 2WD on 4XE
• Completely blocks access to RF Hub which prevents key programming
• It (can) be turned on and off
• Simple plug and play (the new dash is a little more difficult)
• No permanent modifications
• Nothing in the vehicle gets reprogrammed
• Cannot be detected by dealer tools
Best $275 spent, I, as many, got it (would have even if it was only) for MDS, but surprisingly haven’t noticed the 4xe crowd noticing the benefits.

For all those who answered "the 4xe is quicker", I get that, but it as viscerally quick? I don't drive around with a stopwatch; I'm more interested in the seat-of-the-pants sensation versus that of the EcoDiesel. I ask, because the current ICE lineup seems to lack a fun-to-drive aspect. For me a low end torque curve is much more rewarding to the driver than a quick 0-60 time. Does the 4xe scratch that itch as well as the diesel?

I rented a 4xe for almost 2 weeks.
It is a fast wrangler, similar to my diesel with banks derringer.
4xe is more instant while diesel has to spool the turbo. I prefer my diesel for sure.

In that time, i got 22 mpg from the 4xe (stock rental) and 23/24 from my diesel on 37" tires, if that matters.

But fun wise, diesel. The torque is more robust for sure.

if quick was at the top of my priorities, a diesel Jeep or 4xe certainly wouldn't have made the cut. I enjoy the diesel for the power delivery & efficiency. It's just an added bonus that it scoots decently when hammered to the floor!
